@snarky-bee
like, david gaider's stated justification for thedas' promiscuous mage stereotype is kind of laughably simplistic but also fascinatingly revealing, right. mages are outcasts, isolated outside of 'normal society,' and so not subject to the same cultural expectations regarding sexuality. which gets framed in his word of god comments and the few textual nods (like that one bit in the calling) as almost a freedom from the framework of (heterosexual) marriage for the purpose of childbearing as the ideal/only form of sexuality. they don't have to worry about passing down a family name (because they wouldn't get to raise a kid anyway and wouldn't have anything to give to them.)
but if we're honest about the power dynamics here, what it really is is that mages are excluded from having sexual relationships that are accepted and respected by society. you are watched at all hours and have to sneak off if you want to have sex in private. you cannot get married (not without permission that you'll never be granted). you should not have children, because they would be tainted from birth by the possibility of inheriting your magic. if you do have children, they will be taken from you.
all expressions of mage sexuality are sexually deviant, therefore all mages are conceived of as inherently sexually deviant, and furthermore mages as an outgroup can serve as a kind of dumping ground for members of the ingroup to blamelessly act out their own 'deviant' desires without it reflecting back on them. is it gay if you fuck a mage? he's not really a man like you are, is he? is it cheating if you fuck a mage? you could've been ensorcelled into it. they don't have morals and standards of behavior like us - we don't allow them to, of course, but they don't even try. so if you think about it it's not really possible to do anything wrong to them, is it?

I'd love to know #3 and #6 for Moxie, Ash, and Renata 💜
As I already answered 3 for all of them I'll just go with 6 for each: 6. How does your oc feel about labels? Theirs, or in general? Moxie: My beautiful pink lesbian tiefling is very happy to be like I am gay and I love WOMEN thank you very much. Also, honestly, helpful to know of others so she can use her charming whiles to flirt and manipulate them if needed. Ash: Funny enough despite having many that apply (bisexual, nonbinary, aromantic) I don't think they really tend to label themself that much. Those aren't the ones that matter as much to her identity compared to Paladin of The Order of the Comanions. Ash's labels are holy warrior thank you very much and That is the most important. Renata: Someone who I think doesn't spend a lot of time on the identity thing but like... in the negative version. Why does it matter Who I am, when what I am, is an Antivan Crow, you know the whole brainwashing to be a weapon thing. She's bi, but would absolutely say some shit like "I don't really do labels". She likes what she likes and doesn't want to make that her whole sense of self.
5 for the pride-themed asks for whichever ocs you'd like to discuss?
Ooh fun! 5. How did you figure out your oc's identity? My most recent d&d OC, Ash Wainwright is a human paladin, and I knew that she was going to be a big brawny (and dumb!) jock type, golden retriever of a guy. I think because I'm bi, at a baseline I just "assume" my characters are bi until something clicks and I decide otherwise, but that works fine for Ash. As far as gender identity, listen, I just wanted to play a hot thembo. They're masc but not like uncomfortable with the idea of being perceived as a woman, so landed on the she/they pronouns pretty quickly. They like being big and strong and tall and one of the lads. At first I hadn't planned on making her aro, more like for knightly adventurer reasons I just knew she was averse to any long term commitments, but as I started playing her and you know, as you get to know a character, I started to feel like probably she was just aromantic. Never has actually felt that big romantic love that people talk about, more than just deciding Not to pursue anything long term.
Which OC has this hat?

GAY KNIGHTS
Fellas I’m real gay
@0hheytherebigbadwolf HELP!!
Every June this inevitably winds up back on my dash. And I appreciate that. And I will reblog it. Every time.
Hey, it’s @archerinventive, and the Pride Knights!
Ash: 1, 2 (give us that morosexual rep) and 3
Moxie: 3 and 13
Renata: 3 and 7
10 for all three of them and any other OC you want to answer it for.
Ash: 1. What's your oc's gender identity? What's their relationship to their gender? Ash is extremely comfortable in who they are. They're like sure, woman works, but make it masculine and make them one of the lads. Femininity has never really worked for them.
2. What's your oc's orientation? (Romantic/sexual/platonic alterous ect) Do they have opinions about it? Aromantic, Bisexual, likes it that way. Honestly I don't think she has a conscious awareness of any sort of label for being aromantic, she would just frame it in terms of not wanting to be committed to anyone and prefer keeping things casual. If someone is pretty and they can toss them over the shoulder, hell yeah. It's that simple. 3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know? They grew up training to be a warrior from like the age of 12, so I think regarding gender things, they didn't take too long to start to feel like just being a girl wasn't totally right. And by age 15-16 they stopped going by their birth name entirely and just by Ash instead that felt a little more gender neutral. Half her friends in Elturel go by they/them so I don't think it was a stretch to go oh yeah that works for me. 10. Does your oc celebrate Pride? How? ABSOLUTELY. They're in the damn parade. Probably on a horse with a bigass rainbow flag. They love to have a good time, love to party, would also be the type who is like "is everyone wearing sunscreen, have you drank water?" Moxie: 3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know? This is simple. You see she saw a really hot girl when she was a teen and felt so blushy and not normal and heart racing and had a terrible teenage relationship with a thief. Moxie falls quick and easy in love, but this girl was completely using her. 10. Does your oc celebrate Pride? How?
Hellll yeah! She wants to dress up and put on makeup in her colours (okay actually her skin is already one of the lesbian pride flag colours so she's halfway there). Kind of do her social butterfly thing, get too drunk, stay out too late, end up covered in glitter one way or another ;) 13. Would your oc be open to a poly relationship? Why or why not? The thing about Moxie, and her falling in love quickly and easily, is once she's there she's never really considered wanting or looking for more. But let's face it, if the option presented itself, she wouldn't really be opposed to it. She lived on a hippie moonweaver worshipping commune for over a decade, she's certainly seen people in a poly relationship before. Renata: 3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know? No time to question identities in the Crows. Woman named Carmen was hot, in a wave of "holy shit we survived" fervor, they hooked up and it felt good (rare W for Antivan Crow training) and they kept doing it. Stress relief, and pure hedonistic pleasure is enough to go "yeah this works for me I like women." Later that would turn to love, but at first, pure sexual attraction and chemistry, so no questioning needed. She was with Carmen for years before her death, so she's like sure yeah I've seen hot men too. I guess I like both. (shrug emoji).
7. Is there something that could cause your oc to question their identity? What? Actually this is great. Renata self-identifies as bisexual, but has never slept with a man before! In her mind it 'hasn't come up' but as someone prone to thought spiralling, it's easy to imagine her being like, well what if I try it and hate it, or why haven't i slept with a man, am I really attracted to them or do I just like them in theory?
10. Does your oc celebrate Pride? How? LOL NO. Crowds of people? Flags? Big parties? Not her idea of fun. And people being really loud and drunk is annoying. Maaaaybe, Aristide could convince her to like go see a show or something, but she really is introverted and she wouldn't want to be part of any big celebrations. Ari could promise some sexual favours and see what happens...

if your animal is lying on the floor, furniture etc, it’s important to take a picture of them. then, if they move or shift in any way, it’s important to take another picture. with this technique, you can take many pictures of your animal
