I think it would be really wonderful if seagulls were constructed more like bottles with a mystery inside. What I'm imagining is that were you to catch one, you could then unscrew its face and there would be a glowing gem nestled in some sort of socket. The Core of the Gull so to speak. Then you could swap that around with other seagulls, and after screwing the faces back on they would fly off as if nothing happened. Hm... Is this too esoteric, or do some of you see what I am getting at?
Is this anything
Yes, this is magnificent! ā¤ļø
This should happen in Fallen London. And they should never explain why or how it happens.
Including the CDs, nobody in the Neath has any idea what those are. It is unclear if they have been invented on the surface even.
california quails theyāre unforgettable. small and round, black feather on top.
Full Subjectivity Sync gotta have the most jarring tonal disconnect between its lore and its mechanics
Lore: I am one with the machine. Its steel is my new flesh, its wires my new nerves, its reactor my new heart. My veins are aflood with coolant. The edge of a sword kisses my armor and I feel the sting of pain, sharp and clear and cold, driving me onward. I dash forth upon steel legs and strike with arms of titanium. The hot wind of the battlefield scours my shining chest. The many-lensed cameras that are my eyes roll back in blissful anguish. The thrumb of my main gun echoes in my loins. I am an iron god. š„µš„“šµāšµ
Mechanics: +2 Evasion āļøš¤
This comment has been sitting in my head gently rotating like a rotisserie chicken for a while. Sloped Plating really is the complete opposite side of tonal disconnect between lore and mechanics.
It's one sentence, mentioning it's a common pick by pilots to reduce gaps in external plating. That's it.
And +1 armour is a pretty decent chunk of survivability! It's shrugging off a damage off of every attack, and massively impacts defences against enemies that use multiple smaller attacks over single large attacks. This level of armour plating, either granting your otherwise fragile mech a measure of static defence or even augmenting the already-mighty bulwark of the Drake or the Genghis is achieved by... putting plating where there are gaps in the plating.
So is every mech design by every company, collective, and hegemony stupid, and they forget to armour the joints or... what is going on here? Did IPS-N just forget to add the fourth point of armour to the Drake and you have to call them and ask for the missing parts like a piece of faulty IKEA furniture? Is every other pilot stupid for not noticing this?
Instead of sounding stupid like Full Subjectivity Sync, Sloped Plating gets to make everyone else look stupid.
id lie right to willy wonkas face. ādid you drink fizzy lifting drinksā of course not. And then id hit him
genuinely one of the weirdest takes i've ever seen. i don't think anyone on the planet feels the way you do about willy wonka. i don't think that you've actually seen either of the movies, if i'm being frank. i have nothing against depp's wonka, necessarily, but he certainly doesn't strike any fear in my heart. i definitely don't favor him. are you out of your mind? i can't wrap my head around how it's possible you have any sort of fear of depp's willy wonka when he's the only one of the two of them to have a backstory that gives any indication that he's a sympathetic character. he's sort of pleasant in his attempts to charm his visitors and seems to have some regressive symptoms. wilder's wonka is a maniac who yells at children. i mean nobody i've ever spoken to has felt this way. it's bizarre. it's making my stomach hurt.
rewatched both of the movies yesterday and i just wanted to say I was right and you were wrong
I could kill the Johnny Depp Wonka with my bare hands and it would be easy. I would have strength enough spare to fight off a couple oompa loompas even.
The Gene Wilder one though would see me approach with violent intent and without changing from a mildly quizzical look, smoothly, slowly draw a slim pistol from a vest pocket and shoot me in the eye, killing me stone dead instantly.
This Wonka would look dispassionately at my cooling body as he puts the gun away with a little fumbling, as if thinking of nothing more important than extracting some shred of food between his teeth before commenting "Well.. that wasn't a very good idea was it?"
All before with a jump and a clap he addressed the rest of the guests as behind him a couple of black-garbed Oompa Loompas bundled my body away with practiced efficiency, all the while disregarding the screams of terror and outrage from the guests.
The tour wouldn't even stop.
How long did you have that Fem Jax design ready to go? Did you design her recently or way back when you were still making the pilot?
I drew it right before I posted it because I wanted to put pomni fucking ribbit into people's heads.
Infuriating Catholics by asking if I get to be my fursona in Heaven, and if they say no, pointing out that it's not Heaven if I don't get to be my fursona

hot take possibly? but i actually think itās okay for things to be marketed for adults. itās literally okay if things arenāt suitable for children. i feel like we are losing the plot
Correct. Furthermore: children bending or breaking the rules to get a peek at something that's not intended for them is a part of growing up.
Also, a lot of things not intended for children are... at the end of the day kinda fine for them to look at of they really want to? They just won't get it and/or be grossed out by some of it. They won't explode or anything. It is literally fine.

Dumb idea
New arrival post-finale to the Circus, they're dealing with the existential crisis loredump and doing their best to calm down in the quiet dimness of the basement abstraction aquarium.
Kinger approaches and wordlessly sits beside them, and just when you think he's going to dispense some emotional wisdom he points to one of the abstracted and goes "That one is my wife. :)"
The confusion, the shock, the horrified respect(?) on the new arrivals face as they turn to look at Kinger.
why did they call them milkshakes.its not like they were making shakes from anything else lol
