Let me also add that this approach helps you overcome your social anxiety a little (speaking from experience) if the Doctor dismisses you. If the doctor says "oh I don't think it's that" you can easily segway into "well since my roommate/partner is worried about it I'd like to hear more about what a diagnosis would entail". That gets the doctor talking about tests, and you frame it as wanting to give someone you care about peace of mind. This kind of approach is good because it gets your foot in the door, even when your doctor seems adverserial.

(I'm speaking from my own experience here and am more than willing to be corrected if this is a terrible way of going about things. Just wanted to mention my experience as someone who tends to step down if challenged by a doctor).

i know i make this post every time i use spotify for music again but spotify is so incomprehensibly bad and i think its a sign of evil that so many ppls response is ‘oh well guess ill pay for premium’ instead of swift and brutal violence against whoever made the decisions on how the free app would behave or whatever

like you cant just listen to an album (itll shuffle and add other songs) you cant listen to any song on demand, theres like a 2 minute ad break per every 2-3 somgs, itll give you ‘watch this ad and get a half hour ad free!’ prompts and then proceed to Not Do That, limited skips, etc. its almost UNUSABLE without premium, with literally the sole benefit being to use its bullshit shuffling intentionally to find new music (and even then youre tormented every few minutes by unbearable screechy voiced obnoxious ads). theres zero reason to use it instead of just downloading your own music, but its frustrating bc you know how good music streaming would be if it wasnt literally designed for advertisers. and we really shouldnt be okay with the future of media being like this.

To all Gamers and Video Games Fans with Disabilities, Neurodivergence or Mental Illness

I'm planning on making a website, which will hopefully be a nonprofit at some point, called "Can I play that?". The hope is that this website will review different games and game consoles for their accessibility features and help disabled gamers figure out which games would be best for them to play given their individual disabilities, or which are even playable for them at all. I also hope to expand it to review Disabled Representation in, and include Trigger Warnings for, things like TV Shows and Movies as well.

The plan includes different sections for Types of Disabilities (hearing, visual, motor and cognitive), Individual Disabilities, and Reviews for Individual Games and Consoles.

It's going to be a lot of work, which is why I'm making this post. I'm going to need help to both make the website and upload reviews and content to it. If you are a disabled gamer, are passionate about disabled representation or want to help put up trigger warnings, please message me and we can form a team. We'll probably exchange email addresses so I can include you in emails about the process and also contact you easier. At this point it will just be a normal website, but I'm hoping to turn it into a nonprofit one day so we can get donations. But until then, I'll still need help with it.

hi, so i've been working but my first paycheck is very late and very small due to the pay periods and how they work at this new place - we started at the tail end of a pay period.

i mean i can tell you why. it’s because marvel abuses their VFX artists. they give them footage that’s almost impossible to make look good, they make enormous story and design changes right before release dates, they have their artists work overtime for months because they are not in a union and they blacklist workers who try to unionize. you can read more about it here.

i also wanted to add that this is not a phenomenon unique to marvel. vfx artists are abused in this way across the industry, but disney/marvel is just the biggest perpetrator because they are by far the biggest client due to how many movies and shows they have that require cg work right now. while most makeup, costume and set designers are union, vfx artists are not so it’s cheaper to “do it in post”. this is a simplification of the problem but it is part of it.
