I’ve never seen such an appropriate font change in a gif set.
“There as as many knives as bands of strangers to wield them against you” is the most raw, metal line I think I’ve ever seen
And it came from a fucking standup routine
Surely there should be more knives, or else each band of strangers is limited to one knife.
If you look close at the b’s and h’s you can see that it’s actualy ‘hands of strangers’ so each stranger gets two knives.
Archive.org(not AO3) is facing a lawsuit
tldr: the Internet Archive/WayBack Machine is super important in term of archived content, billions of stuff are on there, and with the current event happening in the world like stated above, without this tool, it will be hard to properly document what took place. It will be easy for certain people to rewrite history. Dont let them.
DONATE HERE (post dont get much exposure with working links sorry)

IF YOU CANT DONATE THEN PLEASE SPREAD THE INFO
On twitter, tumblr, facebook, heck, anywhere you want, this needs to be talked about !
EDIT: I failed to remember that not everything is black and white so @rimanez brought up interesting points :
Also as a side note a lot of people are thinking Archive Of Our Own (ao3) is getting sued. Its not the case, its a whole different website. Please rb this version instead

It has come to my attention that many people mistake wyverns for dragons, so here’s a post to help you remember
Dragon: 4 legs, 2 wings
Wyvern: 2 legs, 2 wings
Drake: 4 legs, flightless
Wyrms: long snake like body with no appendages, can also appear as a traditional Chinese dragon with 4. Legs and no wings yet can fly
Amphithere: 0 legs 2 wings, can be feathered
Lindwurms: 2 legs, 0 wings, long body
Luck dragon: 4 legs, no wings, can fly, long body, furry with dog like face
Komodo dragon: 4 legs, no wings, real
Bearded dragon: 4 legs, 0 wings, often kept as pets
as a person passionate as fuck about dragons, i stand by this post
please understand
@yxriii-k
We were having a talk about this the other night
@dovewithscales This reminds me of you 😸
Thank you for the tag. All of these but the last two are dragons. “wyvern”, “dragon”, “lindwurm”, and so on, are words for the same thing in different languages. Dragon is just the proper word for all of these creatures in English. The misconception that “dragon” only refers to the four legged, winged variety comes from the fact that in the regions which speak English, most dragons match that description.
I am the four legged winged variety. Draco ignus if you will, the “western fire dragon”. If we regard the four legged winged configuration as a genus. But all the others should be considered members of one taxonomic family, the dragon family.
Even if you look at the origin of the damn words, “dragon” was used to describe the same creatures that “wyvern” described in europe centuries ago. The only reason we have distinction now is because things like DnD decided to separate them based on physical attributes and classify them that way, only for some reason they decided only the typical 4 leg, 2 wing body plan was that of a “true” dragon. What about the eastern dragons? Like seriously, no one debates if they are dragons or not yet they dont have those 2 wings. They don’t even have remotely similar personalities and attitudes to their western counterparts, wyverns actually boding far more similarity to “true” western dragons in that sense. Ironic, right?
We’re best off calling anything that is a draconic being to be a dragon, since dragon refers to mythological creatures with similar traits (I.E. scales, snout, reptilian features, etc). Then, we can further separate them based on their body shape and origin. The word wyvern first became popular describing a beast that we would now call a chimera, related loosely to the cockatrice, the discerning factor being that it hade viper-like features. This heralded the name of “vivern” based off of the same word for viper. So, if you want to be technical about it, wyverns aren’t dragons, but what most people believe to be wyverns are not actually wyverns to begin with. Yes, that means what most call wyverns were 100% dragons back then.
But, since we are obviously thinking of wyverns as something a lot different than the origin of the word itself (which also doesnt have anything to do with number of limbs btw), let’s move back a bit. Why did people change wyvern to suddenly mean something that has 2 wings and 2 legs, and why did we separate it from dragons? I honestly would put it down to DnD and similar working to market things in their own way, drawing inspiration from myths. Inspiration is not accurate, however. And while words do change, wyvern eventually going towards a more specific and draconic body plan, I think it is wise to also remember both where they come from any why they changed.
The word wyvern may way have changed to reflect specifically those with 2 legs and 2 wings, but there was never a time when the creatures we call wyverns were not also called dragons. Unless you count DnD trying to give different species bonuses and descriptions to each. If anyone wants to know the mythological differences between wyverns and western dragons, I can share that too.
Reblogging for this excellent info on wyverns from a wyvern.

The Outbursts of Everett True was a comic strip that ran in papers from 1905 to 1927, wherein the aforementioned Everett True regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude. Men have not only been taking up too much room on public transport for about as long as public transport has existed, but the people around them have been irritated about it for at least a hundred years. The next time someone tries to claim that manspreading is a false phenomenon, please direct them to this strip so that Everett True can correct their misconceptions with an umbrella upside the head.
I have never before heard of Everett True, but if he “regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude,” I have a strong spiritual connection with him.
I fucking love him
i can imagine this guy’s voice very clearly in my head but i couldn’t put a name to it
He also jabs racists in the eye!
I love the justice grandpa of fists
I’ve never heard of this before but it’s amazing. Of course it’s a bit sad that all of these are still issues literally a hundred years later.

Hello fellow asexual! My non-ace friend has informed me that we all like dragons. Is this true, in your experience? ‘Cause for years I’d thought that was just a me thing.
Bro when I was told that was a stereotype I was like hEY and then I looked at my four years worth of dragon stuff from a dragon phase I never really grew out of and I was like HEY

If you are like me and always need to be working on something to keep your anxiety under control, during this quarentine why not helping scientists by looking at pictures of some neat penguins? or even galaxies? There’s this site call Zooniverse, where you can help on scientific projects by analyzing pictures and data! Right now my favorite project has returned, called Penguin Watch (where yeah, you get to watch penguins, it’s amazing)
you basically have to analyse photos looking for penguins, their chicks, eggs or even predators and human interaction But there are lots of interesting projects you can help in areas such as biology, physics, history or even art:
Oh and the best part, some institutions even accept it as volunteering/service hour requirements for graduation and scholarships!! It’s helping me a lot during this time, so I thought it was worth sharing
