Broads and Broadswords is a charity zine and a celebration of varied women, varied genders, and the swords and blades that love them. This zine collects 80 pages of original color illustrations and comics made entirely by 60+ independent artists-- and no AI at all--in a perfect bound book, available in both digital and print format. All proceeds from the Broads and Broadswords zine will be split between the Transgender Law Center and Point of Pride.
By reblogging this post you are also a part of our GIVEAWAY! Two winners will be drawn at the end of the pre-order period and one winner will receive a free copy of the Volume 3 digital zine, the other will receive a free copy of the Volume 3 physical zine. Uhm,, sorry sweatie, but we have no principles and are glad to abandon your human rights for a handful of votes that we're not gonna get anyway bc we don't believe in offering anything to anyone either 😍🥰😘
It seems like if you’re concerned about literal fascism, mass demonization and rollback of the human rights of unpopular subaltern groups is something that should the fucking well concern you.
first they came for the trans people, but I did not speak up, because I was too concerned with the abstract concept of opposing fascism to actually do anything
my problem is if i enjoy something enough i will be nitpicking. i Will have things to say about where and how it failed. out of nothing but love straight from my heart. unfortunately this often makes me indistinguishable from a hater who has never experienced joy or kindness. such is the amateur critic's burden.
Where’s the post with advice about writing dialogue where the characters aren’t allowed to say what they mean?
Because I’ve been reading a bunch of stories lately where the characters do say exactly what they mean, and exactly what they feel, at great length, every single time. And it’s making my brain hurt.
The answer, as always, is to describe the sensory aspect. The tightness of the jaw, the grinding of teeth, the fire that starts behind your eyes and explodes outwards so hot it's white.
All of which I feel while watching clout-chasing readers make videos where they make fun of EXTREMELY NORMAL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTIONS (like that person on YouTube who couldn't understand what an author meant when they wrote "he pinched the bridge of his nose").
But also: sometimes they can just say it. That is fine. It's a question of overuse and reader reception. If they DO say it, still describe everything. Especially if the body language is opposite. The flat tone, the blank expression, everything that they're using to hide what they are feeling.
does anyone know where the Zelda fandom is. does Zelda even have a fandom or is it all just sub-fandoms for each game. i feel like a large number of people that see my Zelda stuff arent even Zelda fans. i keep getting asked bizarre-ass questions and getting weird comments that are answered by knowing what Zelda is.
they won't tell you this in therapy but sometimes the best way to stop catastrophizing/anxiety is to interrupt your spiraling with "girl what the hell are you talking about"
