I've storytelled a MtAs one shot a few months ago!
The lore went as follows: player's acquaintance from Virtual Adepts got captured by Technocracy. So they went to save him – by letting themselves be captured by Technocracy as well!
Technocracy managed to get quite a collection of guys™ in their Horizon Construct where the game took place, so when security systems went out due to VA helping his potential saviours (or so the players thought), players had to get to their goal, fighting through not only technocrats, but also other captives...
Gwyneth, nocker (CtD)
Of course she didn't remember herself at first and was very weak. Do you know how deadly Technocracy is for changelings? Fae in her survived only thanks to other captives, who had spark of Glamour left in them. Over the course of game Gwyneth remembered herself thanks to players' hijinks and, using her freshly found nocker power, built a whole spaceship to get her, a few other captives and players out of there.
Adamina, former Verbena, then ghoul (MtAs, VtM)
Adamina was a Verbena who accidentally got fed vampire blood, becoming addicted to it. Becoming more and more dependent on vampire who provided her it, she slowly lost her will and freedom and therefore her Avatar. She got rid of her abuser, but not of her addiction; when she got free during the game she immediately went to hunt anyone she could and drink their blood in hopes of it being the one she craves.
Speck, Nosferatu (VtM)
A kind but not nice Nosferatu, who escaped his cell long before security systems going out during the game. He lived in vents every since, unable to get back to Earth. He helped players get around the place, and in turn players saved him from Adamina, who almost chewed his leg off after realising he has what she craves – vitae...
Just some Technocracy guy (MtAs)
Literally just some hurt and scared technocrat. His role in the narrative was to hint at messed up stuff going on further in Horizon Construct...
Jessica, Hermetic (MtAs)... Or not. Irael, Asharu (DtF)
The reason messed up stuff was going on further in Horizon Construct number one. Jessica was a Hermetic with a broken heart and in technocrat captivity. Eventually, she broke down, leaving her own body to find freedom, but letting something sinister get in... Irael, the Fallen who got her body, wanted to destroy pesky humans, and destroy they did, the round hall they inhabited got turned on it's side, like a wheel full of brutal winds and endless falling, with bodies of technocrats everywhere – but only untill faced with Jessica's crush. Irael, feeling some of Jessica's emotions still, was unable to destroy him, and was very pissed about it. That's the state players found them in.
Walter, Hermetic (MtAs)
Jessica's crush, self-centred jerk and a coward who was to scared to admit to himself his feelings towards Jessica. Which led to him treating her with Walter's usual arrogance, convincing Jessica they weren't even friends, let alone something more. Which led to Jessica breaking. Look, I'm absolutely NOT saying Walter owed Jessica his love, but he owed her respect people are supposed to give fellow human beings... Anyways, in terms of magick Walter was pretty powerful, so he managed to subdue Irael a bit and giving players protection against furious Fallen, asking from them to bring him symbols of power to use as foci in his magick. After players stole a gun and a glasses from one of many bodies, Walter managed to seal Irael, only then finally realising that some things are out of his control and that Jessica is never going back.
Herschel, Progenitor (MtAs)
A bastard in charge of this Horizon Construct. He revealed several interesting facts to the players: the fact that the guy they were after was in coma and wasn't the one communicating to them or orchestrating security systems breaking... Technocracy did. And it did so a few times before, trying to study behaviour of it's captives in controlled environment, erasing player's memory after each loop. Only this time this didn't went so well, since Jessica was no longer herself, and old tricks didn't work. Oh, and Herschel also told the players they weren't on Earth anymore. Players' will was unbreakable, though, so they managed to get over initial shock and fight their way through to the last guy...
Eudemo, Virtual Adept (MtAs)
He is the one who started this plot. Players went here to rescue Eudemo, only to find him in comatose state because of Paradox (that's why Technocracy got him in the first place). It took some time and figuring out, but combining their knowledge of Life, Spirit and Correspondence players managed to better his condition. In the end, players, Eudemo and Speck escaped the Horizon Construct on Gwyneth's spaceship. Oh, and Walter escaped too sometime after that. Happy end. Kinda.
Fun fact for heroes who managed to get to this part: captives' clothes are coloured by danger/power rank. Teal is the safest, orange is dangerous, and red is BE REALLY REALLY CAREFUL ABOUT HANDLING THEM. Now you know why they wear what they wear. Yay :D
