Merry Christmas from your secret Santa!

“Dark!” Chase calls to him, waving at him from across the pier. “Do you like it?”

Dark looks around, looking over the calm ocean waves and quiet, empty beach. It’s all empty, except at the end of the beach, where there are about 3 people surfing. He relaxes, the illusion that he weaved, making him seem like a normal human drops. “It’s very nice.” Dark finally admits, smiling.

“Just nice?” Chase asks, smile wavering slightly. “Do you wanna go somewhere else?”

“No, this is perfect.” Dark smiles, and Chase physically lights up, smiling like he heard the best news anyone could imagine. Dark walks towards Chase, resting his chin on the shorter mans shoulder.

Chase jumps, started by the sudden contact before he melts into it, leaning his head on Dark’s. The waves create calming, soothing song as they both sit on the sand, leaning against each other. Dark wraps his left arm around Chase’s body, pulling the shorter man into his chest. Chase giggles, kissing Dark’s cheek.

“What are you after?” Dark teases, tickling Chase.

“Hey!” Chase protests weakly, laughing as he tries to wiggle out of Dark’s grip. “Not fair, let me go!” His sides ach as he falls onto the sand, howling with laughter as Dark continues to tickle him.

“Why would I let you go?” Dark laughs, peppering Chase’s face with small kisses. “You’re smile is cute.” However, he relents tickling the smaller man, pulling him up off the sand and brushing his back off.

“Are you flirting with me, Dark?” Chase pokes Dark’s side.

“You noticed?” Dark teases.

“We’ve been together for a year, dumbass.” Chase giggles, standing on his tip-toes to kiss Dark’s cheek. “Or have you forgotten?”

“How could I forget a face like yours, lover?” Dark picks up Chase and spins around, laughing. “I could never forget a second with you.” He kisses Chase’s cheek as he sets him down.

“Sap.”

“You love it.”

“You’re lucky I do.” Chase wraps his arms around Dark. “Merry Christmas, love.” He murmurs, and they both stare at the fading sun, no words needed to express how much they care.

Your interests were "Everything!" and I didn't really know what to do about it, so here's the opening clip from a future project. I hope you enjoy it ^^

"It's hot. Everything is hot. Understatement of the century, you think, and at the same time, an accurate description as to what it is without having to think too hard, and you're pretty sure it's the reason why you're blurring, and not the decently sized bleeding gash of the bandit's shot just behind you. The desert sun bears down on you, and of course you're nearly out of water, of course both your rented horse and your 'adventure date' had decided to abandon you for help and you're pretty sure that's a human skeleton facedown in the sand. There's a click of a barrel being reloaded, then the explosion of sand inches from you and you duck, spin in place, and dust scours your eyes and tongue, rough as sandpaper and rock and you manage, however blindly, to scramble into a narrow canyon, looking over the area for anything- anywhere to hide. The shouts of the men following you echo from the ends and you sprint- turn sharply into the first intersection, a wider clearing of red stone and dust, with hardly any shadows to hide in but if you just keep moving, if you can manage to confuse or distract them with enough stones, you might just survive. Just like the heist. Exactly like the heist. More shouts, the beat of horseshoes in sand resounding the pound in your chest and you crouch, in the corner of a shallow cavern, hopefully hidden by the too-thin stalagmite's shadow, breathing shallow.

Until the rock you'd leant against moves.

The unthinking gasp you let out is muffled instantly as you're pulled behind a hidden wall, a hand clamped over your mouth as a shadow blocks out the blinding sun and you're frozen, looking up at a face sparking with familiarity, a finger brought up to quirked lips. The warmth of that smile makes the desert heat seem cold.

He winks, the suave bastard, the achingly familiar crack of an unseen whip lost to the sound of boots against sand.

The voices outside die down, and so do you, just a little, on the inside. It's almost enough to make you forget you're bleeding out. Your lips stick to his palm a little as he lets you go, chuckling softly. He isn't looking at you,watching the sand settle beyond the cave and all of a sudden he is, eyes mischievous but kind, as carefree as he was triumphant.

"Nick of time, eh, traveler?"

i’m going to take a moment to deviate from my usual posts, so bear with me: the actress starring in the 2020 Mulan remake, Liu Yifei, has just voiced her support for the Hong Kong police. these are the police who have been brutalizing protestors for several months now with batons, tear gas, and rubber bullets, and recently blinded a young medic in one eye. Liu has a social media platform of 65 million followers, and has been in the national spotlight since her casting - her words have influence and impact. her conscious decision to stand by the HK police sends a clear message: that violence against civilians is acceptable as a means of control, intimidation, and suppression.

this breaks my heart. as a person of Chinese descent, Mulan’s character was a source of inspiration and empowerment throughout my childhood, and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in my excitement to see the remake, but I’m even more saddened and disgusted by Liu Yifei’s support of the police. note that Liu is a naturalized American citizen, and reaps the benefits of freedom and democracy in the US while supporting those who are fighting to silence it in China.

if Mulan were real and here now, she would be out on the streets of Hong Kong, fighting for the fundamental rights of 7 million Hong Kong citizens. please, please, please consider boycotting this movie. skip it, pirate it, do what you need to do, but show that you won’t stand for police brutality.
