Some friendly reminders so that y’all get a better sense of what I’m about and what this blog is about.
Friendly Reminder #1: This user reserves the right to “contain multitudes” when it comes to stances on various social issues, but also recognizes that those multitudes may be founded on implicit bias that still needs to be unlearned.
Friendly Reminder #2: This user recognizes that Christianity and the Christian Bible have been used in conjunction with empire to inflict grievous harm on many people, especially on non-Christians, women, disabled people, mentally ill people, BIPOC, and LGBT+ individuals. (This user has also been harmed by the church of her youth and carries religious trauma.) As a result, this user a) is deeply sympathetic toward those who also have religious trauma and even those who leave the church and/or stop believing, and b) endeavors to make this blog and her personal interactions a safe space for those of other faiths and viewpoints. However, this user chooses to reclaim and reconstruct the faith in which she was raised, with an eye toward progressive hermeneutics/eschatology.
Friendly Reminder #3: This user is pro-vax, pro-mask, and pro-science.
Friendly Reminder #4: This user is pro-LGBT+ rights, pro-abortion, pro-birth control for all of its intended and otherwise beneficial purposes, pro-comprehensive/inclusive sex ed, pro-pornography of all mediums/genres (with obvious exceptions), pro-sex work, pro-legalization and decriminalization of sex work, and pro-uncoupling the social institution of marriage from the legal/economic institution of marriage so that ALL who desire to get married can do so without fear for their rights or finances. Oh and this user is also pro-divorce.
Friendly Reminder #5: This user has benefited from the institutions of psychiatry and psychology but has also been subject to the harms inherent in both. With that in mind, this user is pro-therapy and pro-medication but is anti-involuntary commission, anti-restraints as a first resort, and anti-police presence for mental health crises.
Friendly Reminder #6: This user is pro-gun control.
Friendly Reminder #7: This user’s medical posts are not intended to be a substitute for checking with your own doctor/nurse practitioner/etc before making a medical decision.
Friendly Reminder #8: This user supports freeing Palestine and freeing the hostages, and likewise condemns antisemitism as a response to, or a requirement for supporting, the Palestinian cause. This includes antisemitism against "Zionist" Jews.
Friendly Reminder #9: This user—who is USAmerican—is choosing to remain hopeful and defiant in the face of fascism.
Friendly Reminder #10: This user is anti-death penalty and is working toward accepting the idea of full abolition of prisons. This user is also pro-decriminalizing addiction, homelessness, and illegal immigration.
Friendly Reminder #11: Unequivocally, and without apology, this user says fuck ICE.
