I sold my soul for a small fee.
No surcharge chained upon my sleeve.
No levy too heavy to leave one in debt,
But enough to cry my pillow dry, wet.
I sold my soul for a quarter dime.
Or was it stolen?
Either way I don't mind.
I should not ponder, whinge or cry,
As my lost soul had done its time.
I sold my soul til I saw all red.
My vision blurred with my last breaths.
It stung and burned as I lay still.
I fell for the Devil's laughing spell.

For anyone who doesnât know what this is referencing
this video legit never fails to make me laugh and iâve seen it god knows how many times
every time me and my partner drive pass this one bus stop ad for a clinic that says PREGNANT? on it real big we absolutely have to say pregante? pregananant? to each other until the next stop light
ive been on tumblr a long time and i remember when everyone said âoh donât romanticize mental illnessâ and it was agreed that doing that was gross and a good way to kill people indirectly
but somehow weâve come full circle and there are people who legit defend their right to be anti-recovery there are people who donât want to get better and spread the idea that you canât get better as if itâs gospel and itâs fucking frightening to me bc nobody seems to want to say âhey? this is toxic and untrue and is your disease speaking, and itâs not something you should accept.â
and i feel like every recovery post gets about 500 of these people saying âthis isnât something that will workâ âcool karen iâm depressedâ âmaybe it worked for you but it wonât work for other peopleâ and thatâs⊠just⊠im so sorry if youâre 15. iâm sorry if youâre in high school and watching grown adults tell you it doesnât get better. that nobody says that with time and help and patience the world stops being so heavy, that accepting your illness as a fact is one thing but accepting it as the only way to be is just wrong, that you can learn to live with it and still find some degree of âhappyââŠ. if i had seen this shit back when i was ⊠oh god starting at 12 when i was already self-harming âŠ. i think iâd have actually honest-to-god killed myself. not a joke, not a funny tumblr punchline, i would have actually just killed myself.Â
iâm saying this right here and right now to the adults on this site. if you for any reason shoot down positivity thatâs causing no harm - you might have indirectly worsened someone elseâs condition, and you should try and do better in the future. if you find it necessary to tell people ârecovery is a lieâ, you need to do better. i know everyone has different circumstances, but i also know that mental illness behaves in such a way that everyone thinks they canât recover. if you feel like you should be spreading the Word Of Relapse, you are causing toxic language to be normalized and you need to do better.Â
im team âcool karen ive got depression and that means iâm going to try this because iâve got to try somethingâ iâm team âromanticize recoveryâ iâm team âit isnât working now but it might in the future and itâs worth staying to find outâ im team âhey this didnât work for me but it might help somebody else outâ
fuck guys it shouldnât be an unpopular opinion to say âi donât want any of you to dieâ.
Oh thank fuck someone finally said it!
Can you guess what tree that is?
It's my birthday

I won't put my make-up on because pretty people are pretty people.
I donât get the man one ?
the entire series is focused on stopping all abuse
the man here has his mouth covered up by a woman wearing a wedding ring. meaning he is being abused by his wife. of the men iâve known and spoken to about being abused by their wives, one of the common ways wives will try to âmake upâ for the abuse is literally with money. fucking crazy sad shit but women who abuse their men (bf or husband) also believe us to be super materialistic and so they can just buy us. i could go on but i donât want to. itâs too fucking gross.Â
this is clearly pedophila in the catholic church. a profoundly evil act that is is primarily aimed at little boys.Â
this is child molestation in the black community that tarted little black girls overwhelmingly. usually by a family member and usually a male family member with candy being used to buy their silence.Â
and this is an abused wife. the hand is male wearing a wedding ring. similar to the wife abusing the husband, an attempt to buy silence happens with flowers, candy and jewelry being the common gifts. Â
i respect that this artist (a woman i believe) covered such a wild range of abuse even the ones we donât talk about.Â
I think thatâs a dripping anatomical heart in the flower, too. :(
Still donât get the man one tbh. Is there an epidemic of rich women beating their husbands?
I honestly donât know. I am not familiar with the phenomenon, but knowing that male-on-female domestic violence vastly outweighs the reverse, I had to assume that it was included because otherwise she would have caught hell for it. I mean, apparently it does happen, soâŠ
Male violence against women and children is at actual epidemic levels. I know a few men who have suffered violence at the hands of female partners and itâs awful and unacceptable. But they were also all in a position to 1) leave and easily survive and/or 2) if they hit back would very much be able to stop the attack. As in if they hit back the woman would be koâd. Iâm not saying female on male violence is ok Iâm saying it isnât a âthingâ in the way the others are.Â
Agreed. Men have the means to leave abusive relationships much quicker than most abused women do (if ever).
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you
Okay bitches listen up
Male abuse victims are just as fucking important as female abuse victims
If a man hits back, he is the one accused of violence, even if it was in self defense. Because âmen canât be abusedâ fuck that
Men feel that if theyâre honest about their abuse that theyâll be ridiculed and seen as less than a man
Men are afraid to come forward about their abuse because no one will believe them.
If a woman hits a man, itâs because âhe did something to upset her,â âhe probably deserved it,â âhes over reacting,â y'know, the same shit women are told.
Not all men have the means to leave an abusive relationship. If they could, do you think theyâd stay? Being a man doesnât automatically mean they have financial stability.
So fuck you if you think male abuse victims donât matter. Fuck you if you think men canât be victims of abuse. Fuck you if you try and diminish male abuse victims. Fuck you if you ridicule men for talking about their abuse and seeking help. Fuck you if you patronize men who canât escape their abusive partners. Fuck you if you act like male abuse victims arenât a real thing.
Fuck you if you try and act like men canât be just as vulnerable as women, and that their struggles donât matter. Fuck. You.
a former male friend of suffered years of psychological, emotional, and physical abuse at the hands of his girlfriend. Note: He was a large guy (a good 6'1, pretty muscular, and knew about fighting from past years of his dad teaching him some moves he had learned from martial arts training from when he was young)
Now, his girlfriend was a measly little bitch (I know itâs bad to throw around that term âIts so harmful to women blah blahâ she was barely human, and I dont even think sheâs worthy of being considered a âwomanâ so Iâll call her what I like for this story) barely scraping 5'3, not a muscle on her, the bone and body structure of a 12 year old. You may be thinking âI get how she could abuse him mentally, but how on earth could she physically abuse someone who could easily put her through some drywallâ the answer: People like y'all.
This worm of a human would slap and punch him in the face as hard as she could, hit him in his groin, kick him in his bad knee (he broke when he was younger and it never quite healed right); stab him with things like crochet needles, forks, her nails, small eyebrow scissors, etc. If she was mad at him she would put allergens in his food (He was lactose intolerant to a pretty bad degree and would get horrible stomach aches, cramps, digestive problems, and nausea if he consumed dairy) so she would put regular milk in his coffee instead of the lactose free milk he drank, as well as regular dairy products in things like desserts she would bake, soup, smoothies she would make him; Anything she could hide milk, cream, or cheese in without him noticing.
Again, some of you might be thinking âWhy didnât he catch on, fight back, leave, etcâ Well, Iâll tell you why: Itâs because he was not only a victim of abuse who was regularly told he was loved by his abuser, despite all the abuse, but he was also a victim of a society which regularly told him that he was not a victim of anything. He was larger than her, smart, financially stable, and everything you think would be needed to magically âGet out and surviveâ as you say.
She made sure he didnât fight back, she would tell him things that no person should be told, like how âshe wish she was the man in the relationship so she could rape himâ, or how she could kill him and he wouldnât be able to fight back without her telling her father he was beating her, to which her dad would promptly âStab him in the neckâ; she told him he was useless, pathetic, weak, and ânothing but a dick for her to rideâ. After all these things he would still not leave, ya wanna know why?
Because after she was done, sheâd tell him she loved him, that he didnât have to worry about talking about his interests with her because she loved hearing about them, how he didnât have to worry about crying in front of her because she wouldnât think any less of him. She would speak of their future and her amazing laughs and smiles she would share with him, she would comfort him when he was sad and tell him everything he wanted to hear.
And thatâs how he didnât âescape and surviveâ for 2 years, and tolerated endless abuse. He finally left when his brother-in-law invited him and his âgirlfriendâ to his house to play games and hangout for 4th of July. Unbeknownst to the maggot, his BiL had security cameras around his house from a former break in, and those same cameras caught her punching, kicking, and swinging at him with a metal knife-sharpening rod (I donât know what theyâre called but theyâre the heavy ass metal ones the chefs use) because he said that he wasnt comfortable with her driving after she drank the whole night.
His BiL promptly kicked her across the room as she was hitting him and got him locked in a room and her out the house with threats of the police. It took a solid 3 weeks of slowly opening up to his family, telling stories, ignoring berating texts and calls and threats from her, and having to move all of his stuff out of their shared apartment in the 6 hour window she was at work because he was genuinely terrified she would show up.
Endless nights were spent having panic attacks, nightmares, being coaxed into getting therapy and counseling, and finally admitting to himself that he had been abused. And after that, was a flurry of him trying to get acceptance.
Almost every domestic abuse counselor was marketed to women, as well as meetings where he was the only man in the room; people assuming he was gay and had to have been abused by a man, or that his girlfriend was a martial arts master or other countless ridiculous things instead of just accepting that he was a victim of domestic abuse by a woman, as a man.
Does the domestic violence against women outweigh the violence against men? From the studies, most likely. Does that make either violence easier, more acceptable, less traumatic or less debilitating? Fuck. No.
So, in conclusion, men can be, and are being abused. Is it different than female abuse? Yes. But poisoning someoneâs drink is different than poisoning someoneâs food, but it is still poison. So get y'alls heads out of y'alls asses and help men instead of spouting a bunch of shit at them to make yourself looks like the bigger victim. Say âOur cases are different, but are both traumatic and painful, and I will do all I can to helpâ
To ALL domestic abuse victims. You are strong, you are truly loved, and there is help out there, no matter where in life you are. Never hesitate to message me if you need to talk.
Great addition.
And I forgot to add to mine, please donât be afraid to message me if you need or want to talk about your abuse. Male, female, doesnât matter. Everyone needs someone to talk to, and Iâm willing to listen. â€ïž
this video is an appropriate addition here
https://youtu.be/Ue7U2hdNz2I
so if iâm not being clear enough fuck every single one of you that think men canât suffer from abuse, can get away much easier, FUCK YOU!
abuse can happen in ANY relationship. straight, mlm, wlw, ANY! so FUCK ANYONE that thinks that any type of abuse is dismissable.
Excellent addition, thank you
You people claim to be feminists but you really out here thinking EVERY women is weaker than EVERY male. Lol and that women have no power ever? That women canât black mail? Or hold children hostage in abusive marriage?
I love how their âconversationâ consisted of, âMale abuse? Huh. I donât think thatâs a thing. Itâs real? Well probably not enough to be important anyway.â
For anyone wanting to know what the video was it was a guy saying how his girlfriend used to beat him and he had to jump out of a second story balcony to get away with her, to which the audience laughs and Jeremy Kyle is having none of it.
Knew a friend who thought he should laugh every time he brought up an abusive female ex. Honestly, couldnât shut that shit down fast enough; Told him he was brave to get away from her and smart to never even touch her cuz thatâs when things get twisted.
If you think that men cannot be abused, get the fuck away from me and my blog.
A golden gaze, a typical change with age.
A plunder of emotions filled to the brim.
Overflown with memories that get pushed by the current as they are forgotten.
Blitzing through a rose garden full of thorns with mild grazes on their flesh.
A sudden break in the news.
What will the people choose?

When life has you down, give this a listen. :)
A lot has happened this year. Youâre allowed to feel upset. Youâre allowed to feel tired.
The Past is The Past, Matt Bors
Letâs reblog this until everybody sees it
It's growing on me.
Like a flower blooming through it's stem.
But it pricked me where I least expected it and it's formed into a hill.
A little red shadow, accentuated into an ombre.
As it reached a pointy tip, I couldn't help myself.
A pool of red gushed out of this mountain and left a dark shade upon my skin.
Another pimple. How obnoxious.
-M.
so none of yall know what a friend group is apparently
the notes on this are depressing as hell u got all these people saying that this isnt friendship because friends are just people u go out to drink with on weekends and living with people and planning ur life with them in it is more than friendship. damn im really sorry none of u have ever experienced friendship in ur lives and need to make up new terms to describe genuinely caring about people
All terms are made up, but that is beside the point.Â
The terms âplatonicâ and âpolyamorousâ have been used to describe complex relationships between people before any of us were alive. Theyâre not new terms at all. The individual here is simply taking existing concepts to describe their ideal relationship. I donât know why thatâs so disturbing or depressing to you.Â
For many people, friendship is defined as two individuals spending quality time with one another. That could involve going out for drinks on the weekend, but rarely involves a long term commitment as described above. Friendships often become secondary to romantic commitments and/or marriages.Â
The majority of my friends are in committed romantic relationships and/or they are married. They feel obligated to their partners first and foremost, as is their right to be. In addition, our society puts an incredible value on heterosexual partnerships between two individuals above any kind of friendship.Â
The individual above is describing a commitment between multiple individuals to a platonic relationship. By commitment, they are referring to taking on some of the same responsibilities as one would in a marriage or long term partnership. That is not the same thing as being in a âfriend group.â
I continue to have âfriend groupsâ in and outside of work and school. We may be there for each other when we need to be. We may have a lot of fun together. We care about each other. However, we donât live our lives like a marriage. We are not always together, either â and thatâs okay. Â
Thatâs not what the individual above is describing, though. They are using existing terminology which encapsulate very specific experiences in order to express a desire for a specific type of relationship that cannot otherwise be explained using your preferred terminology⊠(i.e. âfriend groupâ)
âŠbecause what you are describing has little to do with their conceptualization of a platonic polyamorous relationship. You are describing expectations you have in a friendship. They are describing a committed relationship wherein resources are shared between multiple individuals.Â
You might own or rent housing with a friend, but you might not be committed to doing so forever. You might make decisions and share resources with a friend. You might be there for a friend in desperate times. That doesnât mean you are committing to them as a partner.Â
âŠand if it comes to a point where you and a friend or friends are involved long term in each otherâs lives to the point where you desire to commit yourselves to one another, then thatâs perfectly fine â you may choose to still call it a friendship, but you may also want to call it something more fitting.Â
Given the societal perception on what a friendship should entail, people might need a term that goes beyond âfriendshipâ to describe their relationship(s) but that does not fall under sexual or romantic labels. Otherwise, âfriendshipâ can be interpreted as âa person I go out and get drinks with on the weekendâ
And thatâs it.Â
For those in committed platonic relationships, polyamorous or not, they might not be content with people thinking that about them. They may also want to differentiate between friendships and committed relationships. Itâs their personal business, and itâs not sad that theyâd want to do this.
I care about my friends, but I do not have a platonic polyamorous relationship with any of my friend groups. Thatâs not what we have and itâs not sad that our friendship doesnât look like that, because a platonic polyamorous relationship doesnât hold the same exact meaning as âfriendship.â
Stop freaking out over it and let people live.
tl;dr â words are meaningful; you can cry about it without making judgments about other peopleâs desires and life choicesÂ
reblog for the comment directly above because its a great breakdown
THANK YOU.Â
I have friends. And I am in a committed platonic relationship.Â
They are not the same thing.Â
My friends and I see each other when we can. Sometimes itâs virtual. Sometimes itâs in person (more so before this whole quarantine thing but even then it wasnât always frequentâsometimes weâd go weeks or even months between visits because thatâs how adult life works).Â
On the other hand, my partner and I own a house, a car, and six cats together. Weâve lived together for over 11 years. At one point we were engaged, more because it felt expected of us than because it felt right (largely because of pedantic people like the ones in this thread who insist that youâre either romantically involved or youâre âjust friendsâ but that thereâs no in-between).Â
But there is an in between. We live there. We exist in a perfectly lovely, perfectly valid in-between that is no more or less than friendship or romance, but that does not fit neatly into either one, and you know what? Iâm tired of people deciding that just because it doesnât make sense to them that it must not be ârealâ or we must be just âspecial snowflakesâ because we canât just call what we have âjust friendship.â
We donât call it that because thatâs not what it is, at least not the way you want it to be. Itâs not romantic either, though, and thatâs also fine.Â
But it exists, and Iâm tired of people saying it doesnât just because they donât understand it.Â
