As a kid, Peter learnt to fake-faint anytime anyone started arguing around him. He saw it on a movie once and taught himself how to do it in his bedroom until his mom heard all the thudding.

Anytime his friends or parents started arguing, Peter would flop to the floor dramatically. He learnt how to made the loudest thud without getting hurt and he USED it.

Eventually, as he grew up, he dropped the habit, until one day in the dorms the marauders had a fight. A big one. Sirius was screaming, Remus yelling, James was stressing. Not one of them was looking at Peter.

That was, until a loud thud came from the corner of the room.

My Peter headcanon of the day ( inspired by @evil-twink-reg 🥰 )

Is that Peter has a really good singing voice and is a good actor, and used to audition for lead roles in theater all the time. Somehow though, (the directors refusing to cast a bigger person as a lead, or, worse, a love interest) he always ended up being cast as the comedic side character.

He loves playing the funny characters, (and it takes a good actor with comedic timing to play one) but deep down he knows he'd love to play a lead someday. And he would've kept auditioning for them, if he hadn't been pulled aside by his director to explain it to him, that it wasn't his talent, he just didn't have the "right look". After that day, he never auditioned for a lead again.

It seemed no matter what space he stepped into he was always going to be put into the box of "fat funny friend".
