Warrior Cats FanFic Starlingshadowâs Descent try 1 Prologue
Starlingkit knew heâd not been allowed in the medicine catâs den, heâd been told the cats inside were too sick and he was much too young to get the sick they were, but there were no other queens and he didnât have a father to look after him, so the one permanent father tried to keep an eye on him. It was hard though, Starlingkitâs full black pelt made him sneaky, many said heâd make a fantastic hunter later when he became a warrior.
The stench of illness made Starlingkit a little queasy as he made it to his mother, a stranger, nastier scent on her than the rest. âTwilightdawn?â
A little cough left the sick queen as her bright gold eyes opened slowly to see her little kit, âStarlingkit,â she coughed out, âI need you to do something for me, way later into the future, when youâre a warrior, can you do it?â
Starlingkit was sure he could, as harder coughs left his mother, blood splotching little bits of the moss she lied upon, âYes!â He squeaked.
Twilightdawn barely looked at her kit, the brightness in her eyes dimming, into a dark emotion Starlingkit couldnât quite name yet, but he suddenly realized how serious what sheâd say next was. She pat the nest closest to her head and he quickly snuggled there beside her, waiting for her mew.
When it finally came, her meow was weak, but had that same dark emotion she had in her eyes, âWhen you see,â suddenly she coughed hard, more blood, some splattering onto Starlingkit, her cleaning it with her tongue gently before continuing, âseeâŠa full white catâŠblue eyesâŠCottonballâŠrip his throat out for me⊠heâs *your father*.â Starlingkit heard one last weak cough leave her when she was done talking, and suddenly her scent smelled just a little different.
When he looked back up, he saw a thin, lanky, small black cat walk up, her face different from all the cats in the clan besides her own kin, Starlingkit let out a low whimper, âFrogpaw?â
The black cat looked over and flicked her ear, âStarlingkit? Are you sick?â She began to step over the other sick cat bodies, all having their own coughs.
âThereâs no air coming out Twilightdawnâs nose anymoreâŠâ

Many cats tried to ask Starlingkit what Twilightdawnâs last words were, but heâd just shake his head. He didnât quite understand the words yet, but they left him with a bad feeling, one he couldnât quite describe yet. But he knew that whatever it meant, heâd remember her words and heâd keep his promise. He had no kin left, so he had to.
