I'm sorry. It's wrong of me to make light of such a thing. This bird is eating their hive. They are angry, but her feathers protect her from their stings. She even eats a few if they are stupid enough to fly close to her beak while she snacks on this succulent syrup that is their honey. This is a serious crime, but meaners gotta eat too.

āOne of the strongest feelings I remember from my childhood is, precisely, of being humiliated; of being knocked about by words, acts, or situations. Isnāt it a fact that children are always feeling deeply humiliated in their relations with grown-ups and each other? I have a feeling children spend a good deal of their time humiliating one another. Our whole education is just one long humiliation, and it was even more so when I was a child. One of the wounds Iāve found hardest to bear in my adult life has been the fear of humiliation, and the sense of being humiliated. Every time I read a review, for instance ā whether laudatory or not ā this feeling awakes. To humiliate and be humiliated, I think, is a crucial element in our whole social structure.ā

I hate what's happened to the word "triggered" because a lot of people are Not very good at realizing when they're having a PTSD response and end up lashing out at strangers on the internet about it and even when you recognize that this is happening to someone else there is not a lot of language that can allow you to compassionately make them aware of what's happening without sounding like you're accusing them of being irrational and flipping out over nothing
If a text post makes you feel like your blood is rushing in your ears, you feel your gut drop, you get so angry you have a Physical Response, that is not normal. Do NOT respond by typing an angry comment. Take a second and breathe and ask yourself if this feeling is originating from somewhere elseā is this post about a topic you find upsetting? Does it remind you of someone you have a difficult history with? Are you remembering or feeling things that don't immediately connect to the post or its contents?
It is easy quick and simple to go "OP is DANGEROUSLY WRONG and I have to tell them why RIGHT NOW" but when you're having a PTSD response you are in an altered state of mind. There is a real risk that you aren't reading the post correctly, that you've missed words or phrases or context. Leaving a comment and starting an argument with stranger is also not going to make you feel betterā the reply may trigger you again, in fact, and if you were inflammatory you might have triggered the same response in the OP.
Try to take a second and breathe. You don't have to keep scrolling afterwards, some things are worth challenging, but make sure you know what's going on in your own head and the effect you might have on other people. Take care of yourself and take care of your community. And press a cool wet towel to your face it helps.
are you āadaptableā or are you just willing to subject yourself to existing in low key background-level ambient misery
these are different things btw. actual adaptability means not dealing with being miserable long term. and being constantly mildly annoyed/frustrated with a situation but being āable to deal with itā counts as ambient misery. btw.
let this be your sign to make your life just a little more livable. get a dollar store trash can for your bedside so Cup Cityās invasion plans fall through. block a tag or post that makes you grind your teeth every time you see it. get some grip pads so your bed stops sliding across the hardwood a little bit every time you get in it. tell that person you need a little more support. if you get annoyed at a situation more than a couple times, change it. donāt be content with being miserable.
and the more that you start doing this, the better you will get at detecting your own feelings and advocating for yourself! This is an important start to being more of a person in the world if you struggle with that
i can't take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *turns into a cat* *crawls into your lap while youre sitting crosslegged* *falls into a deep sleep but i still look really upset even as i'm sleeping*
