my advice for not going insane? try to do something every weekend. go to events, you’ll love events. and not like just hang out with ur friends or go clubbing , no, make a day out of going to some local market by yourself or attend some strange convention event you’ve never heard of. i cannot stress the importance of doing random events on a friday night or saturday or a sunday at r pm for mentally ill people especially if you’re depressed and have been searching for an anchor 2 tether yourself to. attend some events now
i wish i didn’t spend so many years putting so much effort into hiding myself from the world i should probably go sit on a park bench or something idk!!!!!!
The normal amount of pain is zero. I don't know what to say here. The standard abled person amount of pain without injury or significant exhaustion is so low that it will not register to most of you. It's the slightest twinge. I am so unequipped to explain this to y'all but of you experience regular pain you have chronic pain 😭
I thought 1 to 3 was normal. Ummm. Hm. Uh oh.
Nope! 1 sometimes but that's it. Pain means that something is wrong, it's why it exists. Healthy people exist at 0-1 unless something causes pain.
Yeah I remember going to physiotherapy after I messed up my shoulder and as we were starting the first session she asks me about my pain level. And I go "My shoulder or like the general day to day stuff? And if its worse then my base level my I'd count my base level as 0 and go up from there right?"
And the look on her face as she very patiently explained that that 0 is always no pain, the start of the scale, and is what day to day should be.
Then she went through what each level was with me to figure out where I was, apparently my day to day is arpund 4-5 when I would have said 2, with my shoulder an 8 vs. my initial guess of somewhere around 6, which was eye opening.
Apparently I'd been under reporting my pain to doctors for years because I've had arthritis my whole life and no one thought to actually explain that the normal level of pain is none or how a pain scale works.
So yeah if your above a 0 on a regular basis you've got chronic pain and honestly you're probably underestimating the amount of pain you have.
The fact that some people just assume you're supposed to always feel some pain somewhere is heartbreaking....it's only recently that I have a bit of backache almost daily and thats upsetting enough to me. You aren't supposed to have even 1 body part hurting daily. : (
loneliness really does advance and strengthen like once it makes a home in you it's so hard to feel like your place is with others and it's so easy to get out of practice at sharing who you are because by that point being on your own is an integral aspect of your existence and there's just no way to explain that to anybody
Kinda meta how U.S. audiences have been heaping praise on South Korean film & TV critiquing SK hypercapitalism without any apparent awareness or reflection of how their country has helped build said hypercapitalism through war, occupation, militarization, structural adjustment
The US invaded to preserve capitalism in SK, then built its industries to supply US military interventions in SEA, prop up Japan as a regional bulwark against communism, and be a forever buyer of US weapons. This is not some essential "Asiatic capital" that exists out of context
[image: posters for Parasite and Squid Game projecting a red arrow with the caption "US imperialism directly contributed to an environment in which a downtrodden SK populace literally struggles to survive in a society where their value is placed solely on how much money they have".
It goes over the head of someone looking at the posters and saying "Wow!! Cool foreign thrill horror!!!"]
dream home
From a documentary about Akha people (an indigenous tribe to mountain forests in Thailand). Like many other indigenous people in the world, they are blamed for environmental destruction (despite taking care of the land and maintaining biodiversity), and were forcefully relocated so loggers and industrial farmers could use the land and use impoverished Akha people as laborers.
We often avoid taking action because we feel like we need to learn more, when in reality all we need to do is take action in order to learn.
“We wouldn’t have to deal with the Delta variant if it weren’t for a bunch of uneducated people refusing to get their vaccine”
No, we would still have had to deal with the Delta variant, because neither Trump nor Biden showed any interest in distributing US vaccine stockpiles internationally during the early months when it could have had the greatest impact in dampening Delta’s spread throughout India. Public health experts explicitly warned policymakers at the time that this vaccine nationalism would enable the global spread of variants. But this explanation doesn’t let anyone in America feel superior to anyone else, so it won’t catch on
a graph based on my observations
I would like to apply a Dolly Parton quote to this most excellent graph.
YES.
Ask yourself every day, “what is no longer serving me?”
Identify the thoughts, habits, routines, actions and people in your life that no longer encourage you to grow. Disengage from empty distractions and remove negativity from your life wherever possible in order to create space to move in the direction that you truly desire.
I invite travel, paid creative opportunities, unexpected financial gifts, and aesthetically pleasing spaces into my life at this moment.
