Imagine if sometimes some fucking TÌ·ÍÍ ÍÌÌĄÌŠhÌžÌ ÍÌÌiÌžÍÌÌÌÌ©ÌźnÌžÍÌÍÍḬ̀ÌÍÍgÌžÍÌźÌ»ÍÌŒÌŹ could just crash through the shimmering veil of reality with a trail of fragments from the suffocating void enveloping it, grab whoever's unlucky enough to be closest, and swoop back out like it was nothing. And this was just one of your everyday hazards to worry about. Incredible cosmic horror concept
If I was a wasp, I'd sting you. If I was a venomous snake, I'd bite you. If I was a lion, I'd maul you. If I was a swamp, I'd poison you. If I was a mountain, I'd fall and crush you. If I was the ocean, I'd drown you. If I was a cat, I'd never let you touch me. If I was a dog, I'd run away. If I was a horse, I'd never let you break me. If I was a farm, I wouldn't grow for you. If I was a fire, I'd burn out without warming you. If I was a home, I would fall apart around you.
If I was harmless and small, and easy to hold, you would love me. If I was a worm you could put me in the soft earth and I would be helpless in your care. Of course you could love me, but could you love me if I stung you, bit you, pulled against you, hid and didn't understand you but wasn't harmless or helpless at all?
Could you love something for what it is, when that means you can't touch it or show kindness, maybe even never be near it, and it might never, ever love you back? Is it okay to exist and not belong to anyone, to not be useful to anyone, to be dangerous or poisonous or a failure but a part of the world all the same?
I know this is a metaphor, but if you take it kind of literally, there is an answer to this.
We build wildlife preserves. Often explicitly for the protection of animals and ecosystems that can and have killed humans.
Whenever a whale gets stranded on a beach, CROWDS show up ad risk getting bludgeoned to death trying to get it back into the water.
Every Zoo has a reptile house full of venomous snakes and a team of humans dedicated to giving them the best quality of life possible.
There are volunteer beekeepers who will travel for miles and miles and hours and hours to relocate an entire hive.
There are people who rehabilitate dangerous dogs and horses
There are people who restore structurally unsound houses
There are people who study the way that fire burns so it can rejoin the ecosystem and not be smothered on sight.
Every day, millions of people get up and devote themselves to things that can and will kill them by their nature. Things they can't touch or show kindness to. Things they can't go near. Things that are wholly incapable of loving them back.
And they do it because they love them.
Everything dangerous, everything poisonous, everything 'useless'- absolutely everything has someone, often many thousands of people, who loves them exactly as they are, without expectation that their affection will be returned.
It is alright for anything, even you, to not belong to anyone, to not be useful, to be frightening and dangerous and not adhere to any standard of success. It's all alright. You are loved. You are loved. You are loved.

Apollo 17 vs Artemis II
Despite everything, it's still you.

That's really cool actually
#excuse me but are you telling me that the Apollo pic is made with the help of the SUN and the Artemis one with the help of the MOON??? #that's actually so poetic i want to cry
@gorandomshesaid wait i need to sit with this one. wait.
I want to go to this exact point and run around it saying âIâm in Sweden!â Iâm in Finland!â âIâm in Norway!â until I get tired
i aspire to great things in life
According to Google Maps, that point is in the middle of a small lake.
So weâll do it in January when itâs frozen.
actually thatâs why theyâve helpfully dropped a big-ass cement block with a bridge surrounding it in the middle of the lake: for the express purpose of doing what OP aspires to do
thereâs so much beauty in the world.
Thereâs also a point like this which connects Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands!
They even made a circle there which tells you in which country you are
And the tripoint of Slovakia-Austria-Hungary đđ
the tripoint of czechia, slovakia and poland is just A Rock In A Ditch lmao

Demon: The Descent's exploration of Clarke's Third Law in regards to the God Machine and its angels is really fascinating to me.
Some context. Demon: The Descent is the ninth gameline in Chronicles of Darkness (formerly the New World of Darkness), and it focuses on playing as fallen angels known as the Unchained. Unlike with most angels vs demons stories (and most stories in CoD), DTD uses more science-fiction tropes than fantasy.
The God-Machine is a giant machine that is so advanced that it can leverage all of the natural and occult laws of CoD to perform miracles on par with genuine magic. Angels, including the Unchained, are biomechanical monstrosities designed to do exactly that.
And the story runs with this with all of the Unchained's abilities. Their basic powers, Embeds and Exploits, aren't spells so much as they are tricks of occult physics programmed into them. Warping probability, silencing opponents, pulling random objects out of their pockets; all of that is explained as being some scientific or occult corner case that the God-Machine discovered and built Infrastructure around to take advantage of them. The core rulebook compares it to a child finding a loose board in a fence and using it for a shortcut. Even the more blatant Exploits (which include things like guns that shoot hellfire and turning animals into smaller biomechanical monstrosities) are explained as the demon brute-forcing an Embed to do what they want. Even with the most blatantly unnatural powers, there's an explanation that fits into the God-Machine's techno-mystical paradigm.
The other aspects of demonic powers are also explained in technobabble form. Why can demons disguise as humans? They have a Cover stitched together from their old job as an angel and bits of human lives they've bargained for. Why are they such good liars? They have perfect control of their unconscious reactions, and all their statements exist in a Schrödinger's cat state where they decide if it reads as true or false. Why do they bargain for souls? The Pact gives them a claim on the person's life that lets them hollow out the contractor and steal their entire existence as a new Cover. The supernatural becomes mechanical.
I wish more stories took this route of genre-bending. It's really fun.
Demon: the Descent and Changeling: the Lost are two of my favorite game lines from Chronicles of Darkness. It makes me sad that they're dead, especially Demon since it didn't get enough attention.
âŠI donât know when weâll get around to Demon, but I know the desire is there in both the community and the freelancers.
Lost though. Well. Keep your eye on the Storytellerâs Vault. Canât say more than that. But keep a weather eye on the horizon.
(And if anyone seeing this doesnât know, None More Dark Publishing has already made the Book of Seemings and the Book of Courts for Changeling. Not official, but has included writers who worked on Changeling 2e. Including yourâs truly)

I wish there was a painkiller except for brain fog. Like when your head is full of gunk you could just take a pill with a glass of water and lie down for 15 minutes and your head would be cleared just like that.

Leverage episode where they have to bypass security and burn the GĂ€vlebocken
This would be part of a completely unrelated job in Sweden where burning the GĂ€vlebocken only ends up being necessary by a hugely convoluted sequence of events, so that the entire episode everyone has to constantly remind Parker they are not here to burn the GĂ€vlebocken, leave the GĂ€vlebocken, do not be distracted by the GĂ€vlebocken. Until we finally are rewarded with the delight on Parker's face as everyone on the team concedes that in fact we now must burn the GĂ€vlebocken.
Throughout the episode, it's loosely implied that every other person on the crew EXCEPT Parker has already, for one reason or another, had to burn the goat. Parker is increasingly outraged each time.
