still caring about internet friends you lost touch with years ago is so embarrassing. yeah i had a deam we met up irl recently. the last time we spoke was maybe 7-8 years ago. i still wear the laces we randomly decided was a sign of our friendship. i dont know what any of your socials are or if youre even active on any. sometimes i see someones art resemble yours and i wonder for hours. do you still go by that name you chose? whenever i see it i wonder if its you. we couldve passed each other in this vastness a thousand times and not have a clue.

So I do 3D modeling and printing as a hobby, and a few weeks ago I designed wheel guards meant to prevent office chairs from running over cables and clothes... or your pet's tail.

I got the idea from cowcatchers old locomotives used to have.

Anyways, yesterday I uploaded the model to Thingiverse, and just hours after uploading it, the Community Relationship Manager of the whole website left a comment suggesting I enter the model into a competition that's currently being held on the site.

So I did... and now it's in third place not even a day later. First place is $500, but the competition still has a month to go.

Then the Community Manager contacted me again, telling me they want to feature my model in an upcoming design promotion.

Just, what is happening? I mostly made this thing for myself in, like, an hour, and now it's suddenly super popular? This is all a little bit overwhelming 😵‍💫

Other models I worked on for weeks didn't get nearly as popular. I swear, it's impossible to predict what people will like.

Headcanon - There was a picture that went viral when Rumi was a baby of Celine holding her while balancing a diaper bag with stains on her shirt and her hair becoming thin from lack of care. Magazines took it and used it to mock Celine for no longer being the beautiful idol she once was.

I like the idea of a kindly older Jeju local/neighbour who knows what it’s like after raising her own kids sees it and ends up just…stopping by. She might make up an excuse for why she ventured so far from the main road but she’s not shy in asking if Celine needed anything. Groceries, help cleaning, someone to watch Rumi for an hour while Celine gets some sleep… That kind of thing. And Celine’s too prideful to take it at first, insisting that she’s got it covered. (The disaster zone in the kitchen and living room of the house are definitely not indicators that Celine’s barely keeping it together. Definitely not.)

But the woman was a mom herself. In fact, she’s a grandmother now. Her own daughter is going through it with a three year old, so she knows the brave face new moms sometimes put on. She pushes, gently of course, but Celine’s running on about four hours of sleep and can’t remember the last time she had a shower that lasted longer than 30 seconds, so it doesn’t take much. The woman ends up doing the mountain of dishes in the kitchen.

About a week later, another woman shows up (this one under the pretence of growing too many zucchini and checking to see if Celine wanted any). She talks about how much of a handful her son had been but promises Celine it will get easier as Rumi gets older. She helps by doing a load of laundry and giving Celine some tips for making her own veggie purées once Rumi is ready for that.

A few days later, the woman who runs a local restaurant shows up with a few easy-prep meals.

Then it’s a mom with a box of baby clothes her child grew out of.

Very soon Celine has a whole network of local women to call on. And things don’t feel so daunting anymore.

(Of course, the woman who started it would never mention her knowledge of the legendary women who keep the island safe from monsters who stalk the night. Of how she remembers seeing Celine sneak through the shadows, vanquishing a demon who was about the break into the woman’s house. Of how she knows Celine has given everything to keep the island safe, so it was only fair that the island help her in return.)

Okay but why is this giving….

Celine is taking care of a baby she doesn’t fully understand and gets the help of a new community and she lives out in the middle of nowhere for the safety of her and her baby. (Celine is also headcanoned to garden and Hana in the show does to save money).

On a more serious note, I adore Celine having a community of women who understand that Celine is doing her best, battling depression, some kind of secret night fighting, and raising a baby that is not hers. Shes doing her best but she needs help so they give it to her but…in a sneaky way until she realizes what they’re doing and accepts the help.
