Sometime early on in Sunlight Entertainment’s existence:
Executive at Sunlight Entertainment: Hello Kang Sajang-nim! Did you have a good weekend?
Celine: Oh yes, it was quite peaceful. Rumi and I spent a day in the garden, then she had a long nap in the sun while I got some reading done.
Executive: Oh that’s nice! Good weekend with Rumi!
Executive, turning to his coworkers after Celine leaves: Ok Rumi… Is that Celine’s daughter or her cat?
Coworkers: *turn and look at each other with uncertainty*
Celine’s secretary: Wait no one knows?
Head of Marketing: I mean…she’s notoriously private.
Secretary: I think Rumi is her daughter. Spent the day gardening? You do that with kids.
Accountant: What if it’s an outdoor cat?
Marketing: Fell asleep in the sun? That’s a cat.
Assistant: Kids do that all the time. Mine did that just the other day.
Executive: Ok I guess we’re doing this. Time to play Cat or Daughter.
*Celine walks back in*
Executive: Hey Kang Sajang-nim, I was just wondering: what do you do with Rumi in the garden?
Celine: Oh not much. Rumi usually gets distracted by catching butterflies while I do most of the work.
Secretary: What’s Rumi’s favourite food again?
Celine: Kimbap, especially the kind with tuna.
Marketing: And how old is Rumi?
Celine: Six. Her energy’s finally waning a little but she still finds new ways to get into mischief. The other day she got stuck in a tree.
Assistant: Chasing a bird?
Celine: No I had left the back door open for a moment and she bolted. Started climbing immediately. Although once she realized her mistake she cried and cried until I climbed up there myself to get her down.
Executive: Ok this is getting us nowhere. Is Rumi your daughter or your cat?
Celine, offended: How could you ask me that? *storms off*
Executive: I…I still don’t know which it is.
Walk with me here ;
Rumi knows that Celine took her in and took care of her because Celine loved her mother and Rumi is the last piece of her. It’s not something she’s ever said aloud or told anyone. It’s just a fact that she tries not to think about too often because it hurts even though she knows it’s just the truth. Rumi tells herself it’s better that at least Celine loves part of her and her care wasn’t solely because Rumi had the talent to become a Hunter.
Then Celine is gone. Missing. Everyone says she’s dead but Rumi refuses to believe it, even Mira and Zoey clearly think she’s dead but Rumi is resolute that the Honmoon would have told them.
But she agrees to go through Celine’s things— maybe there’s documents they need.
And Rumi stumbles on an old box that Zoey immediately recognizes as a break up box. Old pictures, some ripped in half, an old t shirt, and a bunch of other random stuff. A couple of journals with pages ripped out or blacked out with a heavy marker.
Which blows Rumi’s mind because Celine has never dated. Ever.
They piece together the story— what words remain in the journal are half poetry, half song lyrics and half rambling nonsense but it’s clear Celine had gotten cheated on after being with a woman for years. And at the bottom of the box is a single picture of Celine and Mi-yeong, young and clearly in love.
I just think it would rock Rumi’s world to know that Celine made a choice. That her love for Mi-Yeong was strong but Celine took Rumi in despite of that love and not because of it. That Celine had been wounded deeply by things Rumi never knew because Celine refused to let them influence Rumi’s view of her mother (for good or for ill)
It’s Mother’s Day in France! And someone just received a beautiful gift from her daughter

Happy pride month!
This one's making the repost rounds on twitter, it seems. Just in time for pride month.
So I'm self-reblogging because I drew it, and that's my right.

i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
