We have hit that time of year where there is about 10 minutes of the day where everything is perfect - not too hot, not too cold, leafs have the good cronch and its great to be snuggled under blankets with a good book and a hot chocolate.
Unfortunately, there are another 23 hours and 50 minutes of the day.
Right now (about midday) I have the sun streaming through my office window making my arm (the only thing its shining on) too hot. Whilst the rest of me is cold even in a hoodie. - what the heck spooky season? We are meant to be in this together - warm jumpers and hot drinks, not both too hot and too cold at the same fecking time!
I don’t know about you but I’m so sick of that omnipresent association of sports/fitness with weight loss as the ultimate goal.
(PS: I’m not sure how efficient punching people is for building muscle mass but I’m afraid she’s had a lot of opportunities so I guess four pounds is probably realistic?)
I wish… I WISH I could somehow reblog this HARDER and with MORE LOVE. Sorry to put more non-art stuff in my main tumblr here, but goddamn I feel this so hard. I’ve been hitting the gym with the goal of making a good habit, so that when winter comes around and the inevitable S.A.D. creeps back into my life, I’m more likely to get some exercise as a coping mechanism just out of habit. I’m also weightlifting because I want to get strong (like ox, you might say).
I do not care if I lose weight, I’m not keeping track of my pounds, and if I stay chubby but get stronger I will be just as fucking happy. So glad I found this comic, and so glad I found your art Ephi! New watcher ahoy! <3

"College grad" is not a developmental stage, nor is it what I would describe a 25 year old as. I was 4 years out of college at 25. My mother had two children at 25. You can be a fucking congressman at 25.
There's a difference between a man who is immature and buys into misogynistic views of beauty and aging and one who is a predator. Also, many actual predators? Not losers and able to move through society pretty freely being seen as cool and the ideal, so conflating the two isn't helpful.

When I see this kind of thing I always think about the actual difference in like the full life. Like would you complain about a 75 year old and a 60 year old? Would you say the 75 year old was a predator for dating a 60 year old, no? But its the same age gap as 40 and 25.
What about a 90 and 75 year old? Still no - i know lots of the older generation that have that kind of age gap.
People say it like it's the age gap that's the problem, but what they are actually saying is "that 25 year old is too young to know their own mind, likes and dislikes, and therefore we need to tell them how to live their life".
Like yes, a 15 year old and 30 year old is potentially concerning - the 15 year is old still a teen, pretty much a child and still developing mentally. Buy if you think the same for a 25 year old where does it end? What is the age when we are actually classed as adults who can make decisions for themselves?
Like Op said, I was out of Uni for 3 years by 25 and had a Job - if I was too young to be making decisions for myself then why did I get to chose the course for Uni at 18 (7 years before 25), why did I have to work straight out of uni to afford to live if I can't be trusted to make life decisions at that age?

^^^^^ for serious. British trans folks rarely get to transition at all, and when they don't they're often denied any social transition period. TERFs in the UK aren't here to start laws against people in America, they're trying and succeeding to kill off trans people in the UK. This really isn't the situation to cram on the brits to look and feel better about yourself... the trans body count is tremendous over there. Please have some respect for the people actually effected.

I’m a trans man in the UK, I’ve been on the waiting list to be diagnosed for just over 2 years now, and am expected to wait around another 2 years before I get my first appointment (if the wait time doesn’t increase). I will then wait around 2 more years (at the very least) for my second appointment, and if I’m very lucky and am diagnosed in that appointment (which is not guaranteed in the slightest), I’ll enter another waiting list to access healthcare. The service I’m in is considered around average. There are people waiting 6 years for their first appointment in other services, so I am incredibly lucky with my supportive family (in that I haven’t been kicked out or abused, parents still don’t respect pronouns or name) and I have good friends who respect me, as well as only waiting 4 years for a first appointment.
Maybe you could go private if you had the money, right? Go a similar route to trans people in the US? A diagnosis from a private practice can be rejected by your General Practitioner, and any referral you get for hormones or surgery can be completely dismissed, because you weren’t diagnosed by an NHS practice. You would likely have to go entirely private, which is not possible for thousands of trans people who rely on the NHS. This is an issue within the NHS and a completely lack of funding and training for trans healthcare, resulting in horrifically long wait time and difficult to access help, especially given doctors and surgeons have and are having their practices shut down because they aren’t considered proper by the NHS, despite being one of very very few who commit to this kind of work.
The transphobia in the UK runs far deeper than just tweets, and combining the aggressively transphobic attitude of a large portion of the population with the lack of healthcare due to wait times and difficulties with funding, you set up an incredibly difficult and dangerous position for trans people. Maybe this sounds like a bunch of complaints and nothing to people in the US, but people here are dying as a result of this. Please do keep this in mind when making anti-UK memes surrounding specifically transphobia.
also, our wait times for HRT have gone up to 6 years through the NHS.
There are officially English asylum seekers in places like New Zealand now because other countries have acknowledged that it is genuinely unsafe for trans people to stay in this country.

Also you need to understand that while engagement in Britain is off the charts it is NOT because there are a lot of transphobes - polls show brits are MORE accepting generally in fact. What this is actually showing is the small and completely insane network of online terfs in the UK who dedicate unfathomable amounts of time and energy solely to driving up engagement on transphobic content, the numbers are unbelievable. Britain is not a place full of transphobes, it's a place with very dedicated transphobes who have the backing of the government and a certain outrageously wealthy and bigoted author.
Also something to consider with posts like this - they are always in proportion to something, the question is what? This mentions retweets - so I assume this is related to twitter. But what timeframe is it looking at? Is this since elon musk took over and a lot of people left (and moved to /back to tumblr)? Is this since the beginning of twitter? Is this related to number of terf posts/retweets whatever per account, or per person in the country? Also considering the number of people who don't use twitter etc. (I have an account but I used it maybe 10 times since I got it at least 8 years ago).
If its trying to say something like posts per person - 100 posts with 10 people will look worse than 100,000 for 500,000 people, but if in realtity 2 people actually posted those 100 (50 each) and 100,000 posted the 100,000 (1 each) then the place with 100 people has less of an issue overall (2 terfs) than the place with 500,000 (100,000 terfs).
I'm not saying the UK doesn't have an issue - the HP author is a big one, and the NHS (i didn't know about that until reading this post) - but things like this can start 'witch hunts' for (almost) no reason, due to lack of actual information.
(Also from my understanding TERF is more anti-trans women? (Radical feminism) so what would it look like if general anti-trans stuff was included?)
Edited to add: also does retweeting include those that were against the initial post and adding their comments on why the terf tweet was stupid/lies/bullsh*t etc.? As that skews the data when the anti-terf retweets are included in the terf tweet counts.

I can see why people are against TikTok but as a relatively normal adult it’s so easy to curate your experience. I feel like, a lot of the people saying “kids shouldn’t have social media” have forgotten that… kids having social media wasn’t always Like This. And I mean even before this sanitation of the internet.
When I was a kid, it was expected that parents would monitor you as you learned how to use the internet. It was expected that they’d talk to you about problematic takes. When I was on *ages fifty years* Quizilla, I had to show my parents that it was just a dumb quiz site to see what color you are/what your taste in movies said about you. They clicked around to check it out and only after they were satisfied was I allowed free rein. Same with Neopets, and even the Barbie website. It taught me to be cautious on the internet, and to be willing to sit back and think about whether something was malicious or not, and do research to figure out if I was right or not.
I want to know why these kids are being allowed NO MONITORING AT ALL. Why are all these fucking parents so shocked to learn their kid is listening to Andrew Tate or following cruel prank TikTok trends without them knowing? Why weren’t they coming in and saying, “Hey, what are you listening to? :) Can I listen for a bit with you? :)” or asking to see some of their kids’ TikToks?
And I’m not saying these kids can’t have privacy. Once my parents were satisfied with the safety of a website, they didn’t watch me do things on it or anything. I had privacy, and that was in the middle of the living room on the family desktop. I’m saying that these kids are being left twisting in the wind without any oversight. The solution is not to ban kids from social media; it’s to get parents involved to teach them how to use it safely.
Exactly! I remember having a MySpace after my dad had one - it was the social media of the time and he had checked it out and agreed it was safe enough (as long as I only had people I knew on there).
I remember getting a Bebo account without telling him - I used it because of all the 'saying pics' (as i used to call them - quote type images) i could get from it, I didnt really do much else. But he had already heard 'bad things' about it and 'freaked' when he found out I had it and didn't tell him. (Once we talked through it, and he reminded me on how to be safe he was ok with it - but I think that was when it was starting to be known about unsafe people on social media)
Kids today are not monitored on the internet or even told they should be careful by parents - then we get the parents complaining their kids could access stuff (the same stuff they could usually access in a library anyway) that they shouldn't, or the kids complaining about there being stuff they dont like.

Far end is Potatoes, middle is courgettes (they are not meant to be that close together, but I don't have faith they will all survive - i started them in my conservatory so they at least have a chance), then carrots the closest (also not meant to be so close together but I expected nothing from them and now don't want to play with fate)

Alright, so this is legitimately something that I have wondered about for a long time, so I figured that I would finally make a poll about it to hopefully satiate my curiosity
When you read on AO3, how do you generally find new fics to read in a fandom you're interested in? (Based mostly on tags.)
I look for the newest fics and read the ones that sound interesting.
I sort for the ones with the most kudos and read the most popular fics.
I sort for the ones with the most hits.
I look for tags that I'm interested in (such as hurt/comfort, fix it, etc.)
I go based off fic recommendations more often and then look for similar fics.
I find one author I like and read all of their works before finding another.
I look for specific lengths (long fics, short fics, etc.)
It depends on my mood/the fandom I'm in
I do multiple of these on a regular basis (please mention which in the tags!)
I don't read on AO3/I don't really care/I do something else (say in tags!)
