The people of Accordo are called Accordions and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Arrival in Altissia. Altissia has to be one of the most beautiful settings in Eos, with waterways that appear to defy the laws of physics and the most amazing architecture. Arriving in Altissia is always an event and Ansel lets you see even more of the incredible details in the game that you only get to glimpse as you sail past.

Languages of Eos
Ever since I started constructing a Galahdian language I have been wondering about the other nations on Eos. The game doesn’t indicate anything about them having different languages at all, so of course my brain jumbed on it.
I didn’t sit down and start writing down words or construct rules for them or anything (I have a life even if all my worldbuilding indicates differently^^) but I thought I might write my thoughts about them down.
Is this a comprehensive history of languages? No, not at all. Just me rambling about the languages that in my opinion should have been spoken. (Not that I think the game devs should have actually constructed them, but the indication of different languages existing - other than for Sol - would have been nice you know?)
Empire of Solheim:
Calling their language Sol seems to be the widely accepted headcanon around here so I’m also jumping on that bandwagon. The only traces left of Sol are the inscriptions in the surviving ruins. Its a very formal version of High Sol used only for that purpose.
So even if people managed to translate the inscriptions they wouldn’t be able to speak it like the people of the Empire did. That language has truly died out, its last speaker dying around 150 years after Solheim’s fall. (Safe for Ardyn, but he’s a special case.)
Kingdom of Lucis:
Modern Lucian has its roots in a surprising number of languages. Five to be exact. Oldest two are Sol (the language of Solheim) and Cavelic (the language spoken in Cavaugh before Lucis was founded). Leide, Duscae and Cleigne also had their own languages but they were under the Solheimr regime longer than Cavaugh and so Sol had a stronger influence on their languages.
After the fall of Solheim the three were independant for a while, until they were conquered one after the other by the Kingdom of Lucis and their languages got integrated. The Lucian language slowly replaces the local ones and basically picked up what it liked from them. In modern times nothing of the original languages is left, safe for a few names of places like Lestallum, Cauthess or Ravatogha.
Island Nation of Galahd:
Their language is called Hadnissa. Its roots lie in Sol, Duskish (old language of Duscae) and Clenesic (old language of Cleigne). The biggest influence is Sol since they made up the biggest part of the original group of settlers. If a linguist would go looking, they would find quite a number of words in Lucian and Hadnissa that have the same roots.
Due to Galahd’s isolation, Hadnissa is a very static language with very little influence coming from outside. The morphology hasn’t changed much for at least a thousand years but the cadence has. So people from modern times Galahd would be able to read things written down a thousand years ago with little problem, but hearing it spoken they wouldn’t be able to understand much.
Empire of Niflheim:
Their official language is called Nifasi. It’s the kind of language that has 15 different words for sand and the word for ‘storm’ generally indicates a sandstorm more than anything else. There are many more languages, mostly tied to tribes, but most of them are in the process of dying out since Niflheim likes their uniformity. Shiva cursing the land with eternal winter didn’t help with preserving the many different languages.
Now, quite a few of the tribes speak a dialect of Nifasi that still contains words from their original language, as well as grammatical differences, but everything else has been lost.
Kingdom of Tenebrae:
Their language is known as Tenebrani. It has quite a few loanwords coming from Lucian, even if it doesn’t belong to the same family of languages, and even more from Nifasi.
After they got conquered by Niflheim, the Empire started a slow campaign to make Nifasi the official language of the state. That didn’t truly kick off until Fenestala Manor got taken. Until that point the people of Tenebrae just grew up bilingual. Afterwards Nifasi became also the language of government, which until that point had remained Tenebrani.
Confederation of Accordo:
I have a headcanon that the Accordians were sailors from all over before they settled down and founded the island nation, and so their language is a conglomeration of everything in existance. (Safe for maybe Hadnissa, because it’s barely known outside Galahd.) It’s known as Aquitaans.
As more of the islands got settled Aquitaans grew more and more divers until nearly every bigger island spoke a dialect that was barely understandible for the others. After the different islands came together in a confederation Aquitaans slowly became more and more standardized. Only small pockets of the older dialects exist in the present day.
