Guys, it's happening now, they'ce literally added DELULU to the dictionary

a further loss for the schizospec/psychotic community: just heard from the national 🇳🇿 news that they've added DELULU to the Cambridge dictionary, fucking pricks

Fuck all the way off with that shit, don't the normies have anything better to do than watering down a word for a really SERIOUS (and scary for us) symptom of a DISABILITY, and the fear a lot of us live in?

They are supposed to protect us, instead they constantly mock, harass and endanger us

Still, a part of me remains ever-optimistic (perhaps too much for my own good):

Is there anything we can do to stop it being added to dictionary?

Is there anything we can do to get it (delulu) removed from said dictionary? Heads together now

Update: it had actually already been added to the dictionary by the time I wrote this post, so have amended my question/the post.

Respecting and protecting disabled people is more important than some supposed, overgeneralized cohort, whose lives are not being (effectively) actually endangered by normalizing this word. Thank u, NEXT

If you are any kind of progressive, supportive person who prides yourself on your wokeness, etc., please, I beg you, stop trying to shut down people's arguments online by giving them grief about their spelling, punctuation, etc.

Why? Because it's wildly ableist, classist, racist, xenophobic, and honestly? a really weak rebuff.

It's pretty much ad hominem bullshit, and you're better than that. Saying "haha, *they're" isn't the win you think it is. Get to the root of their actual damned argument, and tackle that and their assumptions. Don't equate spelling and punctuation with intelligence and, worse, any of those things with worth.

And I know why you think that - I had to work incredibly hard to overcome that prejudice, inculcated from really early on by my otherwise very liberal, but crucially, newly middle-class, Boomer parents. But it's worth the effort, for so many reasons.

And, if this helps, it's like when openly plotting physical symmetry or body shape with an axis of "worth": it's not the bigots who'll be swayed by your mocking, but your friends who'll see that you've been measuring them against that toxic metric.

Holy moly, just heard someone early on in the latest season of a certain popular show refer to the psychotic-spec character as "differently sane"

I know that in the disabled community we don't really like people using euphemisms like "differently abled" and other things that imply that disabled is a "dirty" word to be avoided at all costs, BUT,

With regards to the schizospec community, this actually feels like a first from Hollywood/tv & movie industry, as it possibly shows a sign that the writers are maybe, just maybe, actually starting to rethink how they treat us thru language+ plot devices that have unfairly portrayed or targeted us for too long.

So perhaps we can at least get ready to rejoice as hopefully it gets people thinking and catches on in the form of kinder language used to refer to us etc. In the meantime keep up that ranting abt how Hollywood treats us, my fellow schizospec

I realized I may not have explained what I'm going on abt when I say tangential/circumstantial speech/thought, so here's the tea on that from what seems like one of the only truly credible sources on the internet for info on severe mental illness!:

A circumstantial thought process describes someone whose thoughts are connected but go off-topic before returning to the original subject. On the other hand, a tangential thought process is a series of connected thoughts that go off-topic but do not return to the original topic.

as it so happens, I have come out with some circumstantial speech below cut if you want an example

It came to my attention today that I've been spelling tangential (and other variants on the root word tangent) wrong*, (no i in tangent) which then led me to the realization that I've probably not explained it, plus I often forget the distinction myself so gonna bookmark this lol

*I know ik, there are def worse things in this world than a spelling/grammar error and while I do not begrudge or look down on anyone for struggle with spelling etc, ...

- (let's not encourage classism, ableism, even xenophobia, etc) - and try not to correct people just trying to exist/communicate thoughts, unless specifically asked/the situation expressly calls for it i.e. point out double standards if someone is mocking/bullying/harassing someone for making mistakes while making their own errors in doing so - you get the gist) -

... English/language is both a special interest + strength of mine - so naturally I often beat myself up when I realize I made a mistake for any other person to see, and feel overwhelmingly compelled to fix it even if the moment to do so has well-passed (maybe part of potential unDXed OCD idk?)
