This is Ozzy! She and Ena are the top ranking science officers aboard the Asparagus and while Ena was promoted to chief science officer and got to move to the bridge Ozzy gets to be in charge of the labs. She likes plants and spends the majority of her time in one of the arboretums that are connected to the science laboratories. There she grows plants native to her home world and other useful flora that thrive in a rainforest like setting. Since her planet has a whole bunch of mushrooms that are used for medicine, food, dye, clothing and stuff she already had a lot of basic knowledge of fungi so it naturally became her strongest area of expertise while studying at Star Fleet Academy.
Yes, no Star Trek alien looks like this, I wanted a purple bald character and had to make a new species just for her! Heavily inspired by poison dart frogs. Basic info below

I purely chose these names based on how cool they sound, they hold no special meaning to me and if you want to know what came up when I googled for similar sounding words we will get to that at the end
Sooo Eryulus has a climate very similar to the tropics. It has some scorching hot deserts and some lush rainforests with many streams and lakes running through. The planet gets rainy periods and dry periods. The dry periods are more hospitable in the forest where the shade from mountains and the looming treetops keep the moisture contained. That's where the majority of Eryulus population lives. But they have technology to easily replicate the climate of the forests inside their buildings which allow the opportunity to permanently live in a dryer climate.
Like humans the eryons are the dominating species on their planet and don't have to be worried about being hunted anymore. Of course there are the occasional "wolf" and "shark" attacks but that is no threat to their survival. What is worrying though is that these attacks have been growing the last decades. Due to the eryons rapid population growth the wild animals have had their hunting grounds and habitats pushed back and taken by the eryons. The animals have been kept at bay with fencing and their populations in check with hunting but it has come to a point where the eryons are noticing signs of extinction. If they wish to keep their wildlife and in turn their planet intact they have to find a solution. They have already faced their own "man made" extinction threat before, when the industrial period first started, and would rather not face one again.
Which is why the eryons took to space! They are on a mission to find planets suitable for colonization for their ever expanding population. They are also a curious people and enjoy a good old exploration mission!
Are they frogs?
The eryons are an amphibian like people which are heavily inspired by poison dart frogs. Like these frogs their bold markings were a way to scare off predators. Also like these frogs the eryons can poison other creatures due to sequestration. Which means they absorb toxic compounds (alkaloids) from stuff they eat and store that poison in glands to then get excreted out the skin when frightened. They themselves don't get affected by the poison, neither when ingesting it or touching someone that has it on their skin. And if they stop ingesting toxic compounds they are no longer poisonous! POISON DART FROGS ARE COOL. Anyway. The eryons eat poisonous plants all they want and basically sweat out the toxins. So they are immune to whatever has a similar molecular structure as the toxic compounds on Eryulus. This is a very useful ability and is a great help in other civilizations study of toxins, including Star Fleet Medical.

Eryons also need to keep their skin moist and get easily dehydrated if they spend too much time outside of a moist environment. They have technology with which they can replicate their ideal environment indoors and have in the recent decade also developed a portable system, which is what Ozzy is wearing. She has an air humidifier necklace paired with undergarments and uniform made from a special material designed to pull moisture from the air and keep her skin from getting dry. This is also why she enjoys being in the arboretum when working.
And since eryons are amphibian they lay eggs. And if the eggs don't get fertilized they eat them. Yum.

It's google time!!! I have noticed that words or names I "make up" because they sound cool sometimes already exist so I thought I would google them. And maybe learn something at the same time!
Eryon - an extinct genus of decapod crustaceans from the late Jurassic of Germany (cute!) and a PLA filament for 3D printers.
Eryulus - Erulus is the name of a crater on the moon, a king of Praeneste and something to do with hair growth (funny bc they're bald).
Errulian - Erulian is a name, an artist on deviantart and a person that incorporates their knowledge of rune stones into their everyday life (something like that, I don't really get it).
Osyol - a name, it probably also mean "donkey" (hell yeah).
Vai - a language spoken by the Vai people (cool!!) and the name of some musician guy (whatever).
Seeing as I have gotten considerably better at sculpting things in Blender since first making the little frog that eventually became my LC Employee OC Frogsilon, I decided to sculpt it in it's defensive stance. Just to have a frame of reference for my improvement.
