ive noticed that during this tour there has been a lot more heterosexual signs compared to hslot 2018 where harry was interacting with lot more gay signs. I feel conflicted because i feel like the fandom often has a negative reaction every time the word pussy is mentioned but tits/ass/hole are okay. But I think even if harry isn't visibly uncomfortable about these signs and sometimes interacts with them, it doesn't make it okay to say those things to a complete stranger. Unfortunately, harry isn't the first or the last celeb to experience this. I guess my point is I don't remember this being the same environment last tour. Maybe his demographics have changed since then, or maybe tiktok has played a role in his sexualization..who knows... but i do miss some of the energy from last tour, maybe because i could relate to it more. nothing will top gay vodka for me lol

i think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the last part of your message. i believe that harry has garnered a lot more fans after FL— fans who aren’t actually in the fandom and are just general consumers going to a show which is why i partially think, unfortunately, that the flags and the bigger gay presence isn’t as prominent. also, with tiktok being a new platform, many of these fans who bring those sexual signs or want to live out a wattpad romance novel are active on there and that’s why we see more of it. that platform thrives on the idea of harry sleeping with fans/women etc. and false hookup stories so it doesn’t surprise me that even if this wasn’t the majority of his fanbase, it still would be the loudest due to that. i think if vine was new during harry’s tour we’d find the same demographic. 2017-2018, harry was big but his fandom was mostly contained to 1D fans and the branches of that whereas now he is a much bigger artist that garners fans that aren’t just stans on the internet. he’s always had a massive platform, but the target audience of that platform has shifted especially during 2019-2020. these types of fans have always been there, but it’s just grown and been encouraged heavily in the past two years due to how his image has been marketed during FL.

we also have to take into account that there’s only been a handful of shows for this tour and we had an entire world tour last time— so the comparisons will be skewed no matter what. further, there’s the difference that harry isn’t directly engaging with fans in the crowd and signs (reading them out) like he was previously, so that factors into that as he read a lot of gay signs and directly talked with a lot of lgbtq+ fans in 2017-2018. were only seeing the fan perspective of girls taking photos of these weird signs and then begging for attention/posting videos of him reading it and reacting to it in passing instead of directly. the need for clout and virality on tiktok is…. astounding to me and it feels like a frenzy almost so it isn’t surprising that this behavior is playing out over there just for views. it’s all a very different environment, and i do think due to these dynamic changes that’s why it can feel like the lgbtq+ presence isn’t as strong, but from friends i know who have gone to these shows— they always say there’s more rainbows and pride in the venue than it seems because we’re only getting an isolated view from the loudest part of the fanbase without harry’s direct involvement like last time.
