Hi!

I like them, but it is not a ship I am highly invested in. I think they work well for their story and I like their characters, but that's all. I don't have very strong opinions on them.

I think you can say they pull off a lot of romantic tropes very well. They come from opposite backgrounds and start as antagonists to each other, but slowly learn from the other. They are opposite in personality and design and complete each other nicely.

As for my favorite queer bonds... mmm tbh I usually do not much differentiate between straight and queer ships in the sense if a ship is good it is good! All to say my favorite queer ship are not intrinsically different from my straight one... there are some kinds of tropes that I like!

Anyway, here come four bonds that come to mind (I am also using ships that are canon, since I am assuming this is what the ask is about). In no particular order.

Asheji from Banana Fish

I consider them 100% canon because it is obvious lol. They are a tragic ship well executed (even if they could have had their happy ending and the story would have still worked very well). They are opposite and bring out the best in each other. Through Ash, Eiji learns not to be stopped by fear. He embraces adrenaline, risks and finds his way to truly live after the accident that took away his sport career. Ash helps Eiji "fly" again. Through Eiji, Ash can be his true self and embrace selfless love. He can stop just surviving and can truly start living.

Chaggie from Hazbin Hotel

They are queens, they are disasters, they are codependent and they are gonna save the world! Vaggie and Charlie have my heart because you can see how good they are for each other, but also how they need to grow as their own people to properly be together. Charlie gives Vaggie a chance to change and a meaning to her life. Vaggie acts as Charlie's emotional crutch and fills her with the support her parents never gave her. They manage to be functional thanks to each other, but this is precisely why they challenge each other. Their conflict in season 1 shows us new sides of both.

Vaggie shows us how much she has already grown to the point she doesn't really need Charlie to guide her. She would support the project even if Charlie were to break up with her and she has come to genuinely love the other guests. She is able to healthily communicate with them and Vaggie and not Charlie is the one who inspires them to stay.

Charlie shows us how much she still has to grow to the point her coping mechanism falls apart after Vaggie's lie comes to the surface. She is unable to process her feelings and needs Rosie's help gain some clarity. She also makes it very obvious she deep down has no intention to break up with Vaggie to begin with. Like, she literally cries on Vaggie's side of the bed, buys Vaggie a gift the moment she enters Rosie's Emporium... even more importantly she sends Vaggie to ask Carmilla for information. This last detail is so telling of how much Charlie treasures Vaggie and looks down on herself. She gives the mission to Vaggie even before she herself thinks of going to Rosie for help. Basically, she still thinks Vaggie and not herself is the best person to succeed with Carmilla. She literally gives her the most important task.

Panfilo and Neifile from the Decameron (Netflix)

I am cheating, but to me they still work as a queer relationship and their bond is beautiful specifically because I think it escapes labels. Panfilo is a gay man and Neifile is a straight woman. They are also married and soulmates, who beautifully complement each other. To have platonic love be so powerful and defining to the point they would never regret being husband and wife, despite their incompatible sexual orientation was frankly refreshing and beautiful. They are also at the heart of the series themes and end up saving everyone through their death... Like... I am not kidding their love for each other is symbolic of God's love. I don't think a bond can be more powerful :P

Bumbleby from RWBY

They are two characters that truly become each other's objective, like they need to change and grow to end up together in beautiful parallel journeys. I also love how their fairy tale symbolism comments their relationship and arcs!
