hey. this is a friendly reminder to leave comments on your favorite fanfictions.

you might not know this, but: authors love comments.

the thing is, readers rarely ever comment. most of them will hit kudo and move on, even if the fanfiction permanently changed them.

unfortunately, lots of authors will stop updating because it seems like nobody cares. there's many stories of authors silently dropping their fics. then years, decades later, they'll get one positive comment that inspires them to pick it up again.

so show support for the things you like, because it's so so easy for those things to disappear.

trust me: we love your comments. we really do. whether it's a semi-psychotic deep dive, emoji spam, or something as simple as: "this was good". we love them all.

you've said before how Iridecci genes are dominant but does attunement also have a genetic basis? does someone with earth bending attuned parents have a higher chance of being earth attuned themselves or is it random every time? and now for a slightly more philosophical question, are you attuned to an element based on already presenting traits (agility, touch sensitivity, etc), or do those traits determine the element you'll be attuned to?

On a side note, referring to the attunements as bending is a pet peeve of mine. 🥴 I know it’s meant in jest and I completely understand the similarities, but please just call them attunements. Thank you!

I'm gonna be honest guys... before I got into dp x dc I really had no thoughts/opinions on Jason. He was hardly even in my radar(I was always more of a Kaldur/Aqualad and Zatanna stan)

So obviously now that I'm writing Halfway to Godhood I've had to do my due diligence and actually go down the rabbit hole of Jason's lore and depictions and break him down character analysis style. And omggg I have SO MANY THOUGHTS.

And I really wanna word vomit about it but I think I'm going to work through my very complicated feelings through the fic itself and tackle it in a ✨️ poetic ✨️ way. Either way Jason is very much the type of character I LOVE taking on the kind of journey HtG is about. So jokes on me for sleeping on him.

One of my personal HCs for Zero is that she and Alice's personalities have merged into one, making her monotone, not empathetic, and morally gray, as well as kindhearted, able to mask her rage and "emotionlessness", as well as the ability to be friendly. Alice no longer exists, but neither does Zero. They are one entity now.

Ravioli and I came up for that HC together during our old creepypasta roleplay days (GOD we were edgy then), and it kinda just stuck around, thought I might mention it for a little context on Zero's personality in the story.

Also Ravioli's wife HCs that Zero sees those she likes in color, as the monochrome vision was implemented by the demon that inhabits her, and the "Alice" part of her brain can see color, it's just surpressed, so she only sees those she likes in color instead of seeing them in monochrome! I decided to include that as well.

Anywho sorry for the side tangent, hope the rest of y'all enjoy these! I put a lot of work into em :)

And no, my female character wearing guy clothes for the Plot does not make her Trans. I've said she's not, and other characters have mentioned that she's not. Calling me Transphobic about it will not sway me since; There is an actual Trans Character in that Same fucking Story!

I've written over 70 Stetopher fics at this point and the majority of them are Chris and Peter adding Stiles to their relationship.

So I'm just kind of a little baffled that in all of these stories, I've never gotten a complaint that Stiles feels like an add-on or that Stiles' relationship with either of them will never compare to what they have... but now I've heard it multiple times about Emissary of the Hale Pack, of all stories?

The reason it baffles me is that this story has, quite frankly, the most complex Stetopher dynamic that I've ever written - which is part of what I love about this story.

There's Chris and Peter, who used to be in a relationship as teenagers, before Gerard broke them up, and now they're back together, but for now, it's more or less no-strings-attached sex because they have not worked out any of their issues with each other. This is neither a proper relationship nor stable at this point.

And I've done the "they have a past and are now back together again" spiel literally dozens of times and then added Stiles to it - but usually, Peter and Chris are in a healthy, stable relationship, often times even married. Yet nobody's ever voiced to me that they thought Stiles would be an add-on or afterthought to them.

I am going to assume that is because I actually manage to handle the polyamorous relationship in a way that satisfactorily inserts Stiles into the relationship and forms a new dynamic between all three.

So it feels a tiny little bit like I am losing my readers' trust and that they think that after over 70 Stetopher fics, I'm now gonna start treating Stiles as the plus one. Which would have me a little miffed.

And that's not taking the other sides of this version of Stetopher into account. Because, to be very frank, I had the fear that Chris would come off as the add-on in this particular setting.

Because this is a Time Travel Fix-It Fic, where Stiles and Peter were mates and had a deep bond forged through shared trauma, before Stiles' Peter died and Stiles went back into the past before the Hale Fire to save the Hales, to save Peter from losing his family and ending up in a coma.

This time's Peter develops a quick, superficial crush on Stiles and over the course of a year, the two become best friends and those feelings come to run much deeper than a crush. But Peter knows Stiles is a widower and gives him the time to mourn and to deal with his loss.

Meanwhile Stiles is seeing all the similarities between this younger Peter and his Peter - all the qualities Stiles had fallen in love with in the first place are already a part of Peter - but he also sees the differences and he's been falling for those all the same.

This story gives Peter and Stiles such a fucked up, complicated, tragic, but fundamentally deep bond that I really thought, if anyone, it would be Chris who may come short. Because it took four chapters and 20k+ until Chris even entered the story, and everything so far had built up the relationship between Peter and Stiles. But nobody felt enough like Chris would be an afterthought or that it would be impossible for Chris to compare to the deep bond they have to bring it up so far.

I do think that Chris adds an amazing third angle to the relationship, because while Stiles considers his timeline's Chris his biggest What If - having admitted to the fact that he had feelings for Chris, before the Nogitsune, before Allison's death, and then things got messy and complicated and he never had a chance to act on them - Stiles and this timeline's Chris have never interacted before. It's a blank canvas, and yet it is tainted by Stiles' memories and also by Stiles' deeds since coming to the past; killing Gerard and Kate and somewhat accidentally causing Victoria's death.

And now things got just a little more messy, because Malia entered the game and Peter is, understandably, upset that Stiles hadn't told him yet, in the past year (Stiles was a little busy dealing with a lot and thought he had more time to figure this out). This is the first actual outfall Peter and Stiles have. But it... by no means... implies that they will never speak with each other again. Even while angry, Peter went out of his way to tell Stiles that, because he cares deeply about Stiles and is aware of the boy's abandonment issues.

But... just because Chris and Peter are fucking and there is now tension between Peter and Stiles doesn't make Stiles an add-on to their relationship... Again, Chris and Peter are in the middle of developing an actual relationship here, it's not like they're in a stable or even happy situation. They're both still angry at each other, they still haven't actually talked about their feelings or cleared the air. They too have a shit-ton of stuff to work through; just like Stiles and Peter, just like Stiles and Chris, for that matter. All three dynamics are currently very raw and delicate and not stable or good or happy.

That's... That's what makes writing this story fun for me. It's not a simple thing of A/B + C, there's so much past, so much trauma, so much unintentional hurt caused between all parties. This is like the most work I've ever put into developing the Stetopher relationship, because this is the most messy and complicated starting point for them that I've ever worked with.

And it kind of frustrates me that people seem to be getting a read of a happy, stable Petopher with a Stiles who can't compare with their relationship when that's just... not the case. Neither the place that Chris and Peter are in, nor Stiles' relation to either of them.

a rant about Giorno

Yeah like, look, I've said this before but the canon ending of VA is the BAD ENDING. It's the "you done fucked up somewhere" ending, with almost everyone dead and Giorno left with an "I'm actually dead inside now" thousand-yard stare. (Personally, I believe the turning point is the absolute idiocy that left Abba unguarded on that beach in Sardinia while Mista and Giorno were doing fuck-all apparently inside the turtle. Bruno. Giorno. My loves. WHERE was the collectively shared brain cell this afternoon, in Narancia??)

Giorno is not supposed to end up being the Boss almost alone. I love Mista, but let's not pretend he's remotely equivalent to Bruno in potential utility as a check on Giorno's worst impulses. There are no adults left in Passione. Polnareff, bless him, is not an adult, he's a tiny ghost in a medium-sized turtle and he was the comedy relief in SDC, lest we forget that.

So, from the reading and research I did, while teen gangs and even teen-controlled subgroup gangs are not actually uncommon in Naples, or at least wasn't uncommon as of the mid-2010's when I was last looking into this, there's just too many actual obstacles to Giorno actually being a successful Boss. Unless we a: assume GER is permanently Requiem, which will keep Giorno's twink ass alive longer, and b: somehow his abilities and glamour manage to override that he's a half-British, half-Japanese NON ITALIAN in a deeply conservative country and an even more deeply conservative/racist organization. It's nice to pretend those factors don't exist and Passione is some kind of weird post-racist evil mafia organization, but this more than anything lets me just go "uh, you know VA is a FANTASY, RIGHT?"

So when people start crying about their canon ages or whatever (and yes the fact that everyone is like 21 or under was a SHONEN JUMP EDITORIAL REQUIREMENT, not a rational plot element) I just go: "the entire PREMISE of the story is fantasy in a universe where vampires are real and Araki's made this weird Italy-Japan culturally confused fusion version of Naples, and also it's not real, so can we just get back to writing our ships now and making up more stuff about them, thanks?" All that said, Giorno being "15" is just plain stupid and we don't support that in this house.
