— is a label for those who do not conform to traditional AGAB labels, which could mean they use AGAB labels in an atypical way, such as AMAB cis women or AFAB transfems, or that they reject their AGAB and have assigned themselves a different one. AGAB non-conformity is about rejecting the gender one was initially assigned at birth in favor of the one they really are. ( source )

Emoji combo! — 📝🌺🦋

My original idea was to create an alternative symbol because the current AGAB Non-Conforming symbol reminded me of Sapphic, and I even mistook it for some kind of flag for Sapphic. I have nothing against the original symbol, I don't mean to be rude. (⁠˘⁠･⁠_⁠･⁠˘⁠)

Flag Symbolism:

• Gray-Green — Growth and Self-Exploration: Symbolizes internal growth, the pursuit of self-knowledge, and exploring.

• Golden-Yellow — Inner Strength and Confidence: Symbolizes inner strength, self-confidence, and the ability to withstand societal pressure.

• Pale Yellow — Self-Acceptance and Self-Love: Embodies unconditional self-love and accepting oneself as one is, regardless of negativity towards being AGAB Non-Conforming.

• Pale Pink — Compassion and Empathy: Symbolizes compassion for oneself and other AGAB Non-Conforming individuals who face discrimination and misunderstanding.

• Lavender — Uniqueness: Symbolizes that being AGAB Non-Conforming is something unique within you.

• Hibiscus — The Embodiment of AGAB Non-Conforming: A flower that blooms, showcasing its true essence and becoming itself. Even when someone is against you, you continue to blossom, revealing your beauty and acceptance.

• Butterflies — Going Through the Chrysalis Stage: Symbolize the process of transformation and self-discovery experienced by AGAB Non-Conforming individuals, breaking free from imposed roles and finding their true essence.

• Glitter — It is Diverse, and That is Beautiful: As each AGAB Non-Conforming person has their own unique experience.

am i weird to feel weird about this?? for a few reasons (i blocked out part of the text to make it harder to find op by the way, this isn't a personal attack on anyone, but something i've noticed repeatedly by several people)

1. are amab and afab not intersex terms originally anyway??

2. this is just saying "afab = female/woman" "amab = male/man" to me, even though it doesn't mean to

3. even if the term wasn't coined by intersex people or used in intersex spaces originally, tons of intersex people present binarily male or female at birth?? and thus are AFAB or AMAB, even if they don't have genital differences (or didn't at birth)

HM: this is a weird binary thing to me, which is ironic because it's definitely not meant to be!! it's meant to be very progressive and open to everyone

Transvalerian

This term has multiple definitions

Being AIAB / AXAB / UAB ( or having mixed markers / labels ) and viewing yourself as transitioning towards both a masculine and feminine identity, having a primarily masculine + feminine identity, or presenting mascfem / femmasc.

Not identifying with your AGAB(s) / lack of AGAB, and viewing your gender as being masculine + feminine / mascfem / femmasc, while being trans.

Being / identifying with both Transrainian & Transfieldian.

Being fluid between, or all of these definitions.

I choose -valerian because it sounded similar to -rainian and -fieldian but also because "Valerian" is a plant, which exists in fields and is nurtured by rain. So it's a little symbolic. It can be shortened to "Transval" if you'd like ( similar to the shortened Transrai and Transfie. )

The first flag is an exact 50 / 50 blend of the colors used in the Transrainian & Transfieldian flags ( credit to @eldorr . ) Purple is also a color which shows up in Valerian plants! The second and third are just me taking the top / bottom halves of the Transrainian & Transfieldian flags and putting them together. Use whichever you'd like!

Coined for my intersex experiences because I couldn't find a combo term and I relate to both. Not necessarily Intersex-exclusive but since it's so heavily steeped in my / others Intersex experiences, I ask perisex people to please be veryyyy respectful of Intersex people if you'd like to use these.

( "Respectful" meaning the bare bones basics btw. I.e. no "i'm transitioning to intersex!", using the H-slur, or fetishizing our bodies / variations, and similar things to that. )

maybe there's something im not understanding here, and honestly at the end of the day i don't really care one way or the other this is a pretty exclusively online topic, but the whole "neo/xeno AGAB" thing is like... vaguely transphobic right?

and i am absolutely 100% NOT the person to try to tell others how they should identify or what labels they should be using, im literally a transmasc nonbinary mspec/queer lesbian transspecies werewolf who uses xeno pronouns for fucks sake, it doesn't really get anymore "queer as in wtf is going on" than that.

but from what i've seen and read about it, it kind of seems to be simultaneously reinventing and discrediting the definition of transgender. To directly quote the "AGAB Non-Conformity" infographic made by @/nonconformityhub,

"Those who reject their AGAB, are unassigned, or were forced to fit a binary sex at birth may wish to self-assign a different AGAB. It's based around the idea that we shouldn't be forced to stick with a falsely assigned gender."

like, am i not understanding something or is that literally just the definition of being transgender or gnc?? i think the thing that rubs me the wrong way about it is that it almost kinda implies that as a transgender individual you should or need to disclose the gender you were assigned at birth to others, which (unless it's for legal or health related reasons) you literally just don't. If you are a trans man, congratulations, you are a man. You don't have to be an "AFAB man", you're just a man. As far as anyone else needs to be concerned, you are male and have always been such. The whole point of being trans is to reject the gender you were assigned at birth because it's flat out not what you are.

Idk again I don't really care that much I don't think it's gonna single handedly set back trans liberation or anything of that sort, I just feel like we SHOULD be focusing on dismantling the system of assigning genders at birth to begin with and reasserting that sex ≠ gender, rather than simply modifying the system to appeal to certain individuals and disregarding preexisting communities trying to accomplish that goal, and would maybe just encourage everyone to look at this kind of stuff with some healthy skepticism
