Help Me Attend a Speculative Fiction Workshop for My Novel!!!
Hi Everyone,
I was recently accepted into a selective online speculative fiction workshop where I'll have the opportunity to workshop my novel with acclaimed speculative fiction author Megan Giddings. Because the organization hasn't made its public announcement yet, I'm keeping the name of the workshop private for now but it's one I have been applying to for some years and I finally got in.
Unfortunately, I wasn't awarded financial assistance even though I applied for a scholarship. The good news is that a very generous friend has offered to cover my $300 deposit, so now I'm trying to raise the remaining $500 needed for tuition.
I have to accept my spot and pay the deposit by July 17, and the remaining tuition is due by August 21, so it's a pretty tight timeline.

KLONNIE AU|Cruel Chemistry: Katherine wants to ruin Elena’s life. First, step is going after Elena’s favorite Bennett-witch and pushing her into someone darker’s arms.

“Bonnie!” Katherine yelled, knocking harder on the witch’s door. She could hear her tiny feet pit-patting on the floor.
Bonnie peaked out her windows from her living room and sighed. Curly bouncy brunette hair, cleavage out and a leather jacket? This was Katherine, ruining her leisure time. That consisted of popcorn eating, drinking expensive wine and watching tv. Bonnie purposefully distanced herself from her friends after finding out Jeremy cheated. She understands they are not to blame, but she isn't ready to confront the situation yet.
Bonnie rolled her eyes, pulled her robe closer to her body and opened her front door. “What do you want?”
“Klaus is going to seek you out soon,” Katherine said, looking over at the witch who wasn’t fazed by the comment. Looking at Bonnie in her robe made her seem smaller than usual. “You should give him a chance.”
“A chance to what?” Bonnie questioned, leaning on her front door. “Beg for a spell?”
Katherine facepalmed in annoyance. “He has a little obsession with you. You’re powerful. You tried to kill him, and you don’t fall for his tricks. I am merely telling you your advantage.”
“Yeah, it’s my magic he and everyone else wants,” Bonnie said, dryly. She folded her arms looking Katherine up and down. “Why tell me this? What are you getting out of this?”
Katherine grinned deviously. Ruining Elena’s life starts with taking out her friends. Caroline’s insecurities were fun to toy with but Elena didn’t hardly feel as much for the blonde as she did the Bennett witch. The love, loyalty, and admiration from a Bennett witch was a luxury. One that Katherine is intended to destroy for Elena.
“Klaus likes witches and helping him get a pretty little Bennett witch clears my problems with him,” Katherine said, flipping her hair.

I know I am not the only one who dislikes Bonnie's canon relationships, and I wanted to make a space for us that see her as more than what she was given.
Our girl is just as desirable and deserving of a romance as the rest. It's unfair how she's the only one boxed in due to moral policing.

Magic isn't just a candle flickering to life, or some fancy firework-like sparks. It isn't just an object moving on its own from one side of the room to the other, or a book suddenly flipping to the exact right page.
Magic is also a splitting migraine that starts at the base of the skull and then spreads like wildfire, seeping into every crevice and wrinkle of the brain. It's lethargy that deadens limbs and makes even the eyelids too heavy to lift, crushed under the weight of the world only a few hours ago.
It's hot. Literally - it burns as it travels through the veins, right down to the tips of the finger, emanating across every nerve and muscle until the entire body is consumed with the heat of something indescribable and unknowable. It's metallic, like the blood that drips down into the mouth.
But none of that is enough to stop the enchantment of something so bitter; so unpredictably and deliciously dangerous. Those drawn in by the flicker of light in the darkness accept the risk of getting lost in it, consumed momentarily by an irrepressible desire.
Bonnie knows she is on the verge of being lost as she stares back into the dark eyes peering up at her from behind her own arm, fangs lost in her soft flesh. The white-hot flames beneath her skin push and pulse until she is sure she is actually going to catch fire. Magic is oxygen, it is the thing that fills her lungs and is stolen from them almost immediately, and it is the indescribable sensation that ripples through her when Katherine's resolve breaks, becoming too lost in the moment to keep it up any longer. Her eyelids flicker and she laces their fingers together with a soft moan.
Maybe lost is what they both are. Lost to a world that lost interest in them. Maybe magic is finding each other when the world has long-since stopped looking.
