Anyone else think about Batman (2016) 149 a lot? The idea that Jason dies in the previous issue and isn't invited to the family meeting after everything calms down. He's forgotten about entirely. Even in the time (I think it was a month iirc) leading up to the family sleepover. Bruce is never shown checking if the fear lobotomy is still effecting Jason, which we know it was up until he died (it's a common misconception that the Joker venom permanently/fully cured him). Not a single family member mentions Jason. No explanation is given for his absence. Even Selina who was last seen in Gotham War demanding Bruce be held accountable for what he did, just doesn't care anymore. They've moved into a new house and made sure that Jason won't have any connection to it. They call Jason when they need muscle. When they need someone to die for them. But the second it comes time to actually be family they don't even care to extend an invite. Up until this issue, there was always a part of me that longed for a reconciliation between Jason and the batfamily. But after, I just don't see how I can ever be convinced that these people care for him or see him as a person. If they feel that way because of his past actions, fine. That's their prerogative. This fake family, pretending they care, charade though? It's cruel, and I don't know how else I'm supposed to take it. At least Bruce shows his true colors in their next interaction when he shoots Jason in the face. Although, I'm sure the timeline will be reset again soon, so no worries about consequences for that either.
