Aspec Glossary: Bellus

What is the Aspec Glossary?

Bellus- is a microlabel prefix that indicates that the person in question does not experience that type of attraction or want the type relationship associated with that attraction, but does enjoy certain activities typically associated with that attraction. Someone who is bellus may enjoy the aesthetics or certain actions/aspects associated with that type of relationship. "Bellus" is Latin for "pretty."

Bellusromantics typically do not experience romantic attraction, and are uninterested in having a romantic relationship, but desire certain things that are usually considered romantic in a non-romantic context, such as kissing, going on dates, holding hands, cuddling, etc.

Bellussexuals typically do not experience sexual attraction, and are uninterested in having a sexual relationship, but desire certain things that are usually considered sexual in a non-sexual context.

Bellusroses or bellus aroaces are both bellusromantic and bellussexual.

Bellusplatonics typically do not experience platonic attraction, and are uninterested in having a friendship, but desire certain things that are usually considered platonic in a non-platonic context.

Someone can also be bellusfamilial, bellussensual, etc.

Aceflux - Someone with an orientation that fluctuates between no attraction, some attraction, and a lot of attraction.

Aegosexual - those who experience a disconnect between themselves and the subject of arousal. 

Apothisexual -  identifies as asexual and finds sex and/or sexual activity to be disgusting or uncomfortable.

Asexual - do not experience sexual attraction toward others.

Autosexual - mostly or only feels sexual attraction to themselves.

Bellussexual - one who has interest in certain sexual actions, the aesthetic of sexual relationships, and/or aspects of sexual relationships, but does not feel sexual attraction and does not want a sexual relationship.

Cupiosexual - person who is asexual or on the asexual spectrum and still desires sexual actions despite not feeling an attraction towards people who'd inspire that desire.

Demisexual - only experiencing sexual attraction when an emotional connection or bond has formed with someone.

Fraysexual - individuals who experience sexual attraction to those whom they do not know very well.

Graysexual - may experience sexual attraction that occurs infrequently, at low intensity, or in an ambiguous way.

Lithosexual - feels sexual attraction only for those that do not reciprocate those feelings.

Nebulasexual - cannot tell if they experience sexual attraction or not, due to neurodivergence or intrusive thoughts/urges/images.

ARO / ACE SPECTRUM and their opposites

grey-︰people who experience attraction only rarely, weakly, under limited circumstances, or in another way that significantly differs from allo(ro)s. umbrella term for any aro/ace-spec identity that isn't purely aro/ace or allo.

lith-︰may experience attraction but does not want it reciprocated. may be uncomfortable at the thought of someone being attracted to them, or they may lose their feelings if they learn it's reciprocated.

recipro-︰someone who does not experience attraction unless they know that the other individual is attracted to them first.

fray-︰someone only experiences attraction towards those that they are not deeply connected with, and lose that attraction as they get to know the individuals.

demi-︰someone who does not experience attraction until they have formed a close or deep emotional connection or bond with someone.

bellus-︰enjoying traditionally relationship-oriented activities while not desiring a relationship and not feeling attraction.

inact-︰which someone experiences attraction and desires a relationship despite not wanting or being repulsed by or averse towards sexual/romantic actions.

cupio-︰someone who does not experience attraction but still desires/likes a relationship.

orchid-︰which an individual experiences attraction, but does not have any desire to act on this attraction and does not desire a relationship or encounter.
