First and last scenes ↳ RIP Lola
BTW quick word because it's gonna start to spread fast:
No, Karl did not lie or manipulate people about the Billy Mitchell lawsuit
For more information, consult this post breaking down the entire problem, but for the TL: DR;
Karl lost the lawsuit due to both his lawyer team fucking up at an essential moment, and the judge being entirely unaware of how the internet works; the reason people are believing he is lying is because due to the fact that Bill kept amending the lawsuit to add even more reasons Karl was being libelous, which included comments regarding ApolloLegend's suicide being caused by monetary issues due to his own lawsuit brought by Bill that led Apollo to have to delete various videos, and there is just so much, genuinely read the post explaining it all in detail
Billy Mitchell unprivated his Twitter after his victory and he's posting screenshots from Karl's public Discord that are posted on this thread from Kiwi Farms. The fact that he used AI at all... Jesus fuck...
Karl Jobst making so many videos about the Billy Mitchell thing and even having them sponsored by Raids Shadow Legends is funny in retrospective, but remember that other Youtubers will make videos about him and also have them sponsored, even if they too get in their own situations.
Like a cycle of who sensionalizes who and whose controversies are sensionalized by others and so on.
Youtubers love having their own TMZ and gossip culture even if they're both the "host" and the subject.
At a certain point, you might as well have a Truman Show moment where everything is fake and you just try to escape it.
Your thoughts on the Karl Jobst vs. Billy Mitchell lawsuit?
To some degree, I think Karl Jobst does okay work exposing some amount of fraud in the gaming community, but there are constantly rumblings that Karl's hands aren't exactly clean, himself.
At the end of the day, Karl was not the first person to vilify Billy Mitchell. Multiple people, across many years, have come away from interactions with Billy Mitchell feeling uncomfortable about that dude's legitimacy, to the point where an entire documentary was produced with him as the primary antagonist doing shady backdoor deals.
But I'd be wary of Karl himself. I've said this before, but the people most likely to lie to you are the ones constantly hammering on how they give you the truth. News organizations used to be held to certain standards to provide unbiased reports, but that's been out of wack for years and got even worse once anyone could start up a Youtube channel.
I've said it before, but a lot of people who beat the drum of truth the loudest are the ones who probably want to use that to lie to you.
Which is part of the reason I still don't trust Karl's "investigation" into The Completionist. Now, I didn't follow that one super duper closely, but that's because it immediately stunk of vultures farming for clicks. When being sensational and "exposing frauds" is a business model, being as loud and as flashy about your accusations pays your bills, even if you aren't always correct.
I'd sooner believe a bombshell against Karl and crew than The Completionist actually breaking any real laws, because something there seems really fishy.
But Billy Mitchell? He was in the crosshairs even before Karl came into the picture.
