Never in her life she had witnessed such a creature - and Light knew she had spent her entire life wandering in lands and cities to see the unthinkable sometimes. But him, he was even more different than anything encountered in the span of her life.

The Aes Sedai kept her composed face, never showing any doubt or distress towards the Lord of Chaos. He was not Ba'alzamon but he definitely could be him too. Moiraine felt saidar emanating from the body before her. No step back, only confidence spread over her face, chin up as dark hair cascaded in her back. Whoever he was, he would make himself known. He knew exactly who he was referring to when he said them. The ta'veren.

However her brows rose with a hint of surprise when he implied she might be trying to tease him with wits. If only Siuan was here, she would have shown him how a fisher's daughter talked his specie.

" Why should I take advices from someone who spreads chaos and war in the world and know strictly nothing about saving ? " Perhaps she was indeed teasing him. Provoking him even. Was she afraid ? Not really. Was there danger around waiting for her ? Probably yes. "What do you want from me shadowspawn?"

        SHE HAS HER thumb placed against her mouth as she lets her mind continue to chew on her predicament, extrapolating, calculating, grieving. her engineering of the human race is an unparalleled achievement, but clearly, making them resplendent in her own image has come with some caveats she did not foresee -- and it is this, the idea that mother nature was unprepared, is just the icing on a cake for which she does not have the stomach.

         so the decision stands. kill her children for the sake of other children? or let other children die for the sake of these children? destruction, just as he so plainly points out, is inevitable either way. the timing of which is up to her. she hardly needs him to tell her so, which is why a dark lip curls in distaste.

What did they want?

It's not a question that Atieno finds themselves asked too often. Usually they are left to find and maybe carve out something they wanted in their travels. Making that be enough has been on the forefront of their movements and actions these days.

Something there about being able to 'care' for the self in ways that they would not expect from others.

They could never take the idea of their wants being taken seriously as an assumed thing. Hell, it took a while for them to even allow themselves to have wants in the first place.

So it still feels a bit jarring, almost unsettling for Atieno when Melkor demands to know what they wanted, no matter what anyone else would have wanted.

"There's always the want not to be controlled - or have anyone try to leverage me in any way that they see fit. Whatever sense of freedom to move and be, to explore is always desirable to me. Otherwise..."

The baseline want makes sense to them, or at least makes enough sense considering what they already did on the regular.

It's the more vulnerable wants that make them narrow their eyes a bit. Should they even tell Melkor something like this? What would he even do with that kind of information.

It's enough to have them pause, thinking carefully about how they wanted to phrase this.

"Otherwise, the occasional impulse to be appreciated in some way comes up now and then. But that's so context dependent, individual dependent in what that looks like..." They find themselves trailing off, shaking their head at the idea of going more into detail about that.

"It's just one of those ongoing occasional wants. Along with other passing interests that come through from time to time."

Even if they parsed that out for themselves, they have a hard time believing that Melkor would want to hear about what had to be such a petty, small little thing. And so they hold back, keeping themselves from saying too much.

Atieno sits with that information for a few moments. Although a part of them definitely finds some kind of beauty(?) is that even the word for what they see about him. Is that what piques their interest with him?

Beauty doesn't seem to be the word. It often feels so surface-level. Although there are all kinds of wondrous things, presences that do give a certain aesthetic appeal in the world. There can be depth along with beauty, they know that for a fact.

And yet, what Melkor has is something else, something different arguably as powerful and with a lot more apparent presence.

"Would you have wanted to be? It seems like to be beautiful would have been besides the point of what you're after. Not to mention the sheer amount of variation that renders the term ultimately not that much of importance."

in  this  form,    she  is  rather  lovely.    where  reality  shimmers  between  fact  and  fiction,    libby  is  portrayed  as  a  youthful  thing  with  dark  hair  long  and  healthy,    veridian  eyes  bright  and  cunning,    a  full  mouth  tied  in  the  sweetest  of  bows  and  bookended  by  elegant  cheeks  which  sharpen  dangerously  at  the  summit.    and  oh  does  she  float,    the  long  line  of  their  slender  legs  drawing  her  across  the  ground  as  if  they  do  not  touch  it  at  all.    indeed,    libby  is  a  beautiful  thing.

does  @blackfoe​  see  the  lie  of  it?    does  he  see  what  hides  beneath  that  shallow  pool,    that  vapid  mirror?    libby  looks  on  coolly  as  if  unperturbed  by  the  notion  that  someone  might  know  the  truth.    if  she  is  concerned,    the  gentle  spread  of  a  saccharine  smile  speaks  otherwise.    ❝    hm.    ❞  amusement  curdles  the  air  that  divides  them.    whatever  his  title,    she  does  not  bow  to  it.    ❝    what  handsome  liars  we  are,    then.    tell  me,    do  you  intend  to  come  outright  with  your  intentions  or  shall  i  make  myself  more  comfortable  first?    ❞

“ i wasn’t imagining a single thing! ”  forgive her for her tone-- she’s too tired of being told that she’s been imagining things.  every time she speaks, it’s always dear, you’ve gone through a horrible experience. or sadie, you’re just making things up.  it’s enough to make her tear her hair out.  there’s a sharp groan, her palms pressing against her eyes for a moment.  she breathes in, out, in, out; a calming thing.

“ what if somebody told you you were imagining things?  it’s-- it’s a terrible thing to say. ”  something about this situation is causing the hair to stand at the back of her neck.  she’s not jumping the gun.  instead, she’s observing.  “ for your information, i’m not imagining anything. ”  a pause.  “ -- maybe you’re imagining me. ”
