hey did you know??? that if you stop stretching and maintaining mobility in your body then it goes away?? things get tight and you can't move the way that you used to??? and when you decide to try getting a stretch routine going that the first week fucking sucks because you keep going 'damn i used to be able to do this no problem' and then you have to switch gears and be kind to yourself and just focus on getting better from here instead of berating yourself for dropping the good habits in the first place??? and your body never stops aging so you gotta keep taking care of it and sometimes you gotta take care of it extra in certain areas because of things that happened when you were younger and it's boring and sometimes hurts but it's so necessary???
i am yelling this at myself right now i am going through An Experience (trying to get into a routine of body maintenance again for my physical and mental health)
It's funny how so many health recommendations feel unrealistic because literally no one around you actually follows them. And then later you find out that yeah, you really should have been doing them.
Like, your teeth need proper hygiene—not just "scrub a brush with some toothpaste over them," but the right brush, the right toothpaste, the right technique, and mandatory flossing or interdental brushes, and no constant snacking, and all these other little tricks. Otherwise your teeth are screwed.
That a bad bite needs to be fixed, otherwise your teeth can wear down, break, and by a certain age your jaw joints will be totally fucked.
That bad posture needs to be corrected in childhood while it's still possible, because as an adult, corsets and massages won't do shit for something like scoliosis, and your back will just hurt. I have a very minor curvature, and walking slowly (like you do in a museum, for example) still makes my lower back so tired it's fucking killing me.
That you need to protect yourself from the sun and use sunscreen from a young age, especially if you have fair skin and live in a sunny place, otherwise premature aging and early wrinkles. And if you're unlucky, melanoma—and then you're done for.
That you need to take breaks during near-vision tasks. Not once every three hours, but every twenty minutes. And not just any breaks—you need to look into the distance (6+ meters) for at least 20 seconds. And don't stare at screens in the dark. Otherwise, hello myopia. And even if surgery can give you back your vision, nothing will fix the altered shape of your eye, and you'll be at lifelong risk for retinal tears and detachments—and then you're toast.
That you need to move every day, even if it's just light exercise. But ideally build some kind of muscle corset before you turn 30. Because later it gets harder to gain muscle, and without it, by the time you're old, your spine will fall apart. And you'll be royally screwed.
That you really do need to eat a varied diet, because all those vitamins and nutrients are interdependent (like calcium and vitamin D, or iron and B vitamins). And in the end, you won't just get some abstract bad lab results—you'll get brittle bones, or chronic fatigue, or leg cramps from the slightest exertion, or passing out in the shower and smacking your head on the tiles… and then you're fucking cooked.
So yeah. So many ways to screw yourself over from a young age and then regret it later in life. Jesus Christ.
POV: You just lubricated your internal gears. ⚙️🏃♀️
We’ve normalized the "morning creak." We’ve accepted the stiffness in our knees, the ache in our wrists, and the "heavy" feeling in our shoulders as just the inevitable wear and tear of a fast-paced life.
But friction isn't a requirement of movement. 📉🕹️
Whether it’s the result of intense training, a sedentary "desk-lock" posture, or simple biological time, joint discomfort is a signal that your Structural Integrity is under-resourced. You don't need to "power through" the inflammation; you need to optimize the lubrication. It’s about regaining your kinetic sovereignty.
The "Flex" Protocol:
The Inflammation Firewall: Curcumin C3 Complex® provides highly bioavailable polyphenols that act as a direct anti-inflammatory shield, reducing the "internal fire" at the source. 🛡️🔥
Regenerative Architecture: Movement requires healthy cartilage. A precise blend of Glucosamine and Chondroitin acts as the fundamental building blocks for your connective tissues, helping your body repair mechanical damage in real-time. 🏗️
The WOMAC Standard: Boswellin® is a clinically proven intervention designed to significantly reduce stiffness and discomfort. It’s the "gold standard" for those who refuse to let their mobility be dictated by an ache. 📈
Bone & Muscle Synergy: Advanced ingredients like Shilajit and MSM work to accelerate bone strengthening and muscle regeneration, ensuring your entire support system is firing in harmony. 🦴⚡
The Mobility Upgrade: NuviaLab Flex 💎
I’ve been tracking NuviaLab Flex because it’s a research-driven, 11-ingredient stack that prioritizes tangible recovery. It’s an essential "System Maintenance" protocol for athletes and high-performers alike:
Rapid Recalibration: Users report a significant shift in lasting relief and fluidity in as little as 14 days. 📅
Collagen Catalyst: Essential for the lubrication and strength of your joints, ensuring every movement is frictionless.
Tested for Performance: Whether you're pushing boundaries in the gym or just seeking everyday comfort, this is the partner for restoring your kinetic vitality.
It’s about that moment when you realize the "stiffness" was just a lack of data—and you’ve finally updated the system.
I'm going to do NaClYoHo this year (see linked site). I forgot about it yesterday but I still cleaned!
Welcome to
NATIONAL CLEAN YOUR HOME MONTH
The Manifesto
Our motto: “If you can’t do a great thing, do a something.”
I washed dishes to clean out the sink so that I could clean/process the vegetables from my community farm workshare. I didn't podcast (on account of the forgot) but! I did call my mom and chat with her.
I'll put my goal list under the cut bc it got long Fast. I'll try to put all the tags i want to use on this post, but maybe I'll make more (esp for projects).
Some categories that I want to work with this month include:
-Body maintenance (my shoulder pain is flaring back up bc I haven't been doing my PT. Also I started roller derby and that has been a good challenge for my body) (I also need to work on medical transition logistical things. Perhaps that will become its own category)
-Vehicle maintenance (need to do an oil change, check for leaks, refill various fluids, winterize the vehicle, clean out the backseat, and write down my maintenance from last month
-General maintenance (I would like to sweep, vacuum, and keep my dishes washed in all the rooms/zones. I also need to take out the recycling and trash as the month goes)
-Life upgrades (I need a winter job, to apply for next year's community farm internship, and to finish my degree (so close!)
-Bathroom deep clean (I've been keeping up on maintenance but it needs the deep clean and scrub down. I also need to restock the toiletries)
-Kitchen deep clean and organization (it's been a minute since I went through the food especially. Need to set it up for winter food storage from the farm and clear out space in my freezer for new deer meat from this year's upcoming hunt)
-Entry hallway deep clean and reorganization (it's a crowded walkway right now and I would like to clean off everything, sort it, and deal with the sorted piles. I do not look forward to going through all of my mail. But alas! I've also toyed with the idea of switching from my landlords dining style table to a bench and wall hooks. Perhaps this will be the month! There's also quite a few boxes of papers and whatnot stacked in the hallway from when I moved that just don't have a better home. I need to find them a home.)
-Shortpile Rug Zone overhaul (this area includes all my plants, my bookshelf and my dining table which is you guessed it! full of papers. There's also a few boxes from my move that again don't have a home and some incomplete projects (rocking chair rebuild))
-Living Room Zone overhaul (Again lots of papers and books to sort through. I have some overdue books I need to return to my library. My meds and first aid supplies need sorted through. I would like to set up another foam Cube for my stuffed creatures in my Cozy Zone. My Shabbat candles zone needs a good cleaning and overhaul, and I need more shabbat candles! I might attempt to make some while doing candle making at the community farm (normally they just do advent candles) I'd like to see if I can set up my universal remote to work with my DVD player (already set up for the tv).)
-Projects and Upgrades (my bathroom dehumidifier broke this summer so I either need to fix it or replace it for winter. Pots and pans in the kitchen need sorted through. Need to get rid of my old toaster oven either through donation or electronics recycling. I should really go through all my clothes again to check for fit and if I like them, donating/consigning what I don't need. I have a few clothes items that need repaired (embroidery jacket has a torn pocket, fancy pants have a hole in the pocket iirc, purple button up shirt has a ripped off cuff button, and I have some pants that need hemmed). There's a crocheted gift I started for a friend years ago and I would really like to finish that. In furniture land I need to do some repairs on my dad's old record cabinet so that it is usable again, finish the rocking chair repair project, and get my record player working! My phone needs a sort through and clean out, especially of the photos. I also want to switch my computer over to Linux, which will probably include cleaning out my computer storage. I'd love to print out some photos too. My cookbook needs a new cover page bc I don't like the one my mom made. I need to finish painting a small wooden box/chest. I would like a deer hide display spot while I continue to muse over what projects I should do with them.)
