Today was my closing argument for #richmondhalfmarathon which is next weekend. My training journey started as a quest for #marathon finish number 16 and maybe a new #bostonqualifier. But training didn’t go as planned for a number of reasons and about a month ago I decided to trim back my sails and switch to the #halfmarathon. I’ve had time management and injury challenges most of the fall but here I am ready to give it go anyway. Today, my plan said only 10-12 but for my confidence I needed to at least go 13.1 and I did that, for 13.6. I did follow my plans guidance on pacing for 11 miles, doing the first 7 easy and the next 4 at race pace effort. I also looked to simulate race day by wearing my planned gear including my @trottin_oxen team singlet and my @altrarunning Escalantes. I also used my traditional nutrition approach, @honeystinger gels and water. The 4 mile segment felt fine but once I shut that effort down the final 2.5 miles were a cooldown shuffle. I had given what I had today and was done. Hopefully a taper week has my legs feeling fresher next weekend. #runblr #fitblr #halfmarathontraining #richmondhalfmarathon2018 #fallrunning (at Vienna Town Green) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpxprDmBtpS/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1jwcs4k40oif3
