⁣ Well I finally caved and bought myself actually running shoes. I went into @fleetfeetmalta with no clue what I wanted or needed but the employees there were amazing and so helpful! We measured my feet and he had me try a few different ones. But these bad-boys felt best!⁣ ⁣ Naturally I had to take them for a spin and see how they feel and how I felt when running. My hip didn’t bother me, and my knee wasn’t as sore! Collapsing on the driveway after my long run of the week. 3.46 at 12:28 pace. . I cramped up a few times and walked but I was going for distance over time this run. . Morning run!

This was a slow run with lots of walking. I woke up earlier than I like to be up and took the dog out on the trails. I’m hoping that in time I’ll be able to run this whole route.

Set out to do an hour and see how far I got. There was a lot of walking. A little bit of running. But not bad for my first run in a while.

I’m unsure why my heart rate mostly stays in the fat burn zone and not the cardio zone. I definitely feel like I’m working hard? Or perhaps I only actually ran 19 minutes out of the 60 I did 🤔

Anyway, proud of myself for actually going cause I finished work late and it was raining so motivation was low! Can’t keep making excuses though.

This is me status post 13.1 long and hilly miles at the Mount Desert Island Half Marathon in Acadia, Maine in October. . Immediately following this (okay, let's be honest during my training and even during the half itself) I swore off ever doing another half or even running again. The half was hard (okay maybe I didn't train properly) and my legs were sore for days. . But to all you crazy runners who cheered me on and told me I'd want to do another one and I told you you were insane.... . Apparently I drank the kool-aid. 🙈🙊 . My BIG goal for 2019 is to run another half and to beat my MDI time. My plan is to do one in the fall! 🙃 . Any runners suggest any fall halfs in the New England area? 2018 was one for the books! . I pushed myself harder than I ever have with new workout programs, and even ran a half marathon! I changed up my eating. I worked on myself from the inside out. . It has been a year of growth. It has been a year of change - all the way down to my last name! 😉 . I've had ups and downs, as anyone does, but I'm stopping to smell the roses more than ever. Enjoying the little things and little moments with those I hold dear. . I'm feeling stronger than ever and the healthiest I've ever been. I have some solid goals for the new year and I'm excited to reach them! . Thank you to everyone who made this year an amazingly special one for me. Tonight I ran 5 miles straight! 3.5 outside then it started getting dark so did the last 1.5 on the treadmill at home! I kept under a 10:40 pace the whole time which is the best I've done all around! . Most people would say I should have done a longer run by now.. More than one probably.. Maybe I should have a faster pace.. Since my half is, y'know, 18 days away. 🙈 And they're not wrong! . Life has thrown some curve balls at me through this training.. But even though I'm running short on time and my running isn't great.. I'm not nervous about doing this race!
