Air Combat Brevity Code Definitions
Just compiling a list of some common ones of the top of my head, hope they are informative!
GENERAL COMBAT
TALLY | Sighting of a target or enemy position (opposite of No Joy). Usually paired with number of targets and bearing.
VISUAL | Sighting of a friendly aircraft or ground position (opposite of Blind). Similar to Tally.
BOGEY | A radar or visual contact whose identity is unknown.
BANDIT | An aircraft identified as enemy; does not imply authority to engage.
HOSTILE | A contact identified as enemy; clearance to fire is authorized.
CLEARED HOT | You are authorized to fire ordnance.
FOX (1, 2, 3) | Launch of air-to-air missiles (1: Semi-active radar, 2: Infrared, 3: Active radar).
SPLASH | Air target destroyed. Accompanied by number of total number of kills in current engagement
RIFLE | Friendly air-to-surface missile launch (e.g., AGM-65 Maverick).
SHACK | Ground target destroyed. Accompanied by number of total number of kills in current engagement.
