Ingredients: 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced. 2 cups cabbage, thinly sliced. 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon chili powder. 1 teaspoon cumin. 1/2 teaspoon paprika. Salt and pepper to taste. Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish.
Instructions: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef slices and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add garlic, onion, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add cabbage and continue stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes until the cabbage wilts slightly. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and pour the sauce mixture over everything. Stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the ingredients evenly. Chinese stir-frying is one of my favorite cooking methods: it’s quick, flexible, and so forgiving. That’s exactly how this cabbage and chicken stir-fry came about a few days ago!
I used what I had in the fridge: Chicken breast, cabbage, carrots and a little leftover Char Siu (Chinese BBQ) sauce.
Nothing fancy — but it turned out so tasty!
The Char Siu sauce gave the chicken a rich, savory depth, and the cabbage added the perfect crunch. Super comforting and super easy to prepare in under 30 minutes.
No Char Siu sauce? No worries! You can grab a bottle from the grocery store, or just marinate the chicken with soy sauce, pepper, salt, and a bit of cornstarch — it’ll still be delicious. (And yes, I’m planning to share my homemade Char Siu sauce recipe soon! )
Hope you’ll give it a try and love it as much as we did!

Combining two completely different ingredients in terms of texture and flavor, glass noodles and cabbage, makes this a unique dish.
The chewy noodles and the crisp cabbage create a striking contrast in texture. The glass noodles absorb flavor from the ground meat and dried shrimp.
This time, I flavor it with Doubanjiang (chilie bean paste) for a Sichuan flavor. An alternative is to use yellow bean paste (taucu) for a change.
Here is how I prepared it https://tasteasianfood.com/cabbage-glass-noodles-stir-fry/
Enjoy!
