Prayers for a our car situation. We drive a pretty beat up one from 1997.. 100% been making it work cause my husband's dad was a mechanic and can help us when things go wrong (saves us a lot of money).

This time around we have to replace the entire power steering pump. It's been an issue for awhile but now it's unsafe to drive. Prayers we'd get the parts soon (they've been ordered) and that my husband and his dad would be able to work on it and get it done quickly and smoothly.

Ultimately, prayers we'd be able to get better jobs so we can save up and getting a better second hand vehicle to replace this one.

Pulled over mid (highly scientific) date due to a minor car mechanical failure. Specifically, the engine attempting to turn itself into a blast furnace. Not exactly ideal, but overheating is a basic thermodynamics issue—Especially for my car model—I know it’s shit, but it’s functional.

Conveniently, we stopped near a materials shop (also known as a modern miracle of supply chains) and Acquired coolant appropriate for the engine. Lab partner was present but functionally useless in this scenario. They had zero automotive knowledge, so, they were just sitting there observing like a primate.

Also picked up windshield washer fluid because visibility is, shockingly, still useful for driving.

Was there ever any kind of in-world explanation for why Herbie the Love Bug was animated and at least semi-sentient?

Possession? A shapeshifted cybernetic alien? Fine German engineering?

What the f*ck was going on there?!

I have work and my car won’t start. Fellas… what do we do here? Arson? Suicide? A seance to figure out who tf cursed me? I’m open to suggestions.

My cars engine just went out and I'm supposed to move across the country in a week. I can't afford to fix it or buy a new car but if I can't move in a week I'll be homeless without a car or job. Fun times...

I remember why

it took me so long

to get this car fixed.

She has a lot of issues.

She goes through tires

like I go through caffeine.

Since we got her up and running

a few months ago-

she's gone through three tires

and one donut.

Two of them needed to be done

as they were worn and old.

One was new and my wheel barring

was faulty-

tore it up.

The donut had seen more miles

then it probably should have.

We had just left the gas station.

We were on the road

heading to work.

When I stopped at a red light,

a car in the turn lane next to me stopped

and the driver rolled down his window.

He pointed to my front driver's side tire

(the one we replaced twice now)

and told me it was flat.

I was confused at first, then processed

what he had said and thanked him.

I got in the turn lane and drove back

to the gas station to use the air pump.

That was very kind of him.

It took just a moment of his time.

It wasn't his problem.

He could have ignored it and went home.

Instead, he saw it

and decided to say something.

I appreciate that kindness and thoughtfulness.

I hope he is having a wonderful day.
