Midoriya is going through all the characters in the play with the rest of the class, deciding on who should play what role for their class’ rendition of Sleeping Beauty, trying to appoint which of his classmates would be best suited for each one.

“Todoroki-kun should be the prince.” Hagakure suggests after a long debate and mostly everyone agrees with that, given the fact that Todoroki already seems to have an almost regal air about him, somehow.

Midoriya nods along in agreement, continuing to skim through the remaining characters, when someone else pipes up.

“And Midoriya-kun should be Aurora.” Midoriya’s so focused on what he’s reading that he just keeps nodding until the words finally register and he snaps his head up from the script with wide eyes.

“What.” Everyone around is agreeing with a hum and he blinks stupidly at them. “S-shouldn’t this role be played by one of the girls?” He squeaks, his eyes drifting to Todoroki with despair shining in them, only to see him picking at a sticker on the desk distractedly. He turns to Uraraka instead, hoping she will back him up.

“Uraraka’s playing the queen.” Kaminari states as soon as he notices where Midoriya’s looking. “Ashido, Tsuyu and Hagakure will be the fairies.”

Midoriya is fairly certain that they hadn’t come to a decision on any of these yet, but he starts thinking maybe he was distracted when he looks at the aforementioned girls and the confirm with a firm nod of their heads.

“What about Yaoyorozu-san?” He asks looking at her, thinking she would be perfect for the role and hoping at least someone would see that too.

“She’s obviously playing Maleficent.” Ashido responds gesturing to her. “Have you seen that bone structure? Evil fairy confirmed.”

Yaoyorozu smiles sheepishly at him with a small shrug. “A-and Jirou?!” He pleas, praying that any deity might see his desperation and help him out.

“She’s in charge of sound.”

“Sorry dude, it can’t be helped.” Kirishima shrugs, and everyone once again nods along.

“It’s gotta be you Deku-kun.” Uraraka adds.

“B-but why me?!” He squeaks, his eyes once again drifting towards Todoroki and feeling his cheeks heat up at the mere thought of having to be kissed by him in front of a crowd. Not that being kissed by Todoroki was an unpleasant thought or anything, he looked like someone who might be nice to kiss and all, and why is he even thinking about this?

Todoroki finally lifts his eyes to meet his, their usual intensity rendering him speechless and making his cheeks burn even hotter for some reason. 

“Because you’re the only one he’ll ever be willing to kiss.” Ashido whispers into his ear and Midoriya breaks the pencil he’s holding.
