thinking about character A who really wants to get out of an obligation, maybe its a meeting that they're dreading, maybe it's an event, whatever it is they don't want to go.

they start to think... if only they were sick, there would be no expectation to do the thing they're dreading, so they purposefully set off their allergies. It would be more realistic if they sounded sick over the phone after all.

they call in, sounding terrible and sneezing in itchy fits as they hitch out the excuse of being sick. Character B on the other end of the phone is sympathetic, telling them to get better soon and not to worry about anything.

A thinks they're in the clear and enjoys their day until B shows up at their door with soup, tissues, and medicine. A hurriedly shoves their allergen into their face making their eyes water as they answer the door trying their best to look sick and miserable.

"Hhh-whad hhih- whad are you doing he-her- hh'CHiew!"

B apologizes for not calling ahead and coos sympathetically at how miserable A looks. A keeps up the charade, and whenever they have sneezed out all their allergen, they sneak away to induce again.

maybe A did a too good job of looking sick and miserable, maybe it's terrible weather, maybe B is too tired to leave, but B ends up staying the night.

A thinks it'll be fine, tomorrow morning they'll leave and then A can stop inducing ticklish fits, but tomorrow rolls around and A wakes up to wet sneezes from the other room.

"I think I caught your cold." B says, doing a bad job at covering their sick sounding sneezes. "Good thing you can't catch this twice."

and A as no choice but to reluctantly laugh, watching B's cold progress and knowing that's where they'll be soon

Cold scenario w/ mess and contagion ☝️

Someone with such an obvious cold, red nose, sniffling and wiping their nose on a crumpled tissue.

When sneezes hit they only turn to their side, no attempt to cover and sneeze down towards the floor, obvious mess dripping down from each sneeze onto the floor. There’s a pause in between each where just when you think they’ve done they start up again.

It’s almost as if you can feel your own nose itch and a tickle in your throat from just simply being near them.

Currently dreaming about a person slowly coming down with a nasty cold. Listening to their usual, polite little stifles get gradually wetter and less controllable before they inevitably pitch forward into an uncontrollable, unexpectedly messy explosion. Their poor fingers, thinking they were just there to contain another harmless (although quite powerful) stifle, finding themselves covered in spray. The desperate plucking of tissues out of a box and the first helpless, incredibly needed noseblow that completely fills them, confirming to them and everyone else in the room, that they have, indeed, caught a cold.

I can’t get the idea of someone who is sick and keeps having false starts is still super sensitive enough that maybe their partner doesn’t even have to used a rolled tissue, feather, or q-tip to induce. The pad of their finger softly grazing over their red, twitching nostrils and scrunching nose bridge is enough to get all those tickly sneezes spilling of their nose (with whatever else flows out as well)
