hey what if Danny was also gay and part of Wilson pushing him away and distancing himself was from his own then-unrecognised internalised homophobia that made him inexplicably uncomfortable whenever the topic was brought up
and then, years/decades later when Wilson realises his own sexuality, he has the usual gay crisis compounded by his crushing guilt and family trauma at how shittily he treated his brother and how he'll likely never get a chance to apologise, and even if he did, he can't undo everything he did and said back then
he feels so guilty when he has sex with House and briefly feels uncomplicatedly good and happy, only for it to tear him to pieces afterwards when he remembers why, in his mind, he doesn't deserve to feel happy about this when he made Danny feel bad about it
I have a hilson high school au kicking around in my head, based on that one picture of the houses with the windows right up on each other. Greg House (17) & his parents move in next door to the Wilson’s (Jimmy, 16) (bigger age gap doesn’t work for HS au I’m sorry) I have so so much lore to unleash upon you all at some point
