Jason Todd and Clark Kent-Injustice: Zero Year
I was reading Injustice: Zero Year (digital first) and a conversation between Bruce and Clark caught my attention. In issue 2 of Zero Year, the Justice League throws a party for the JSA. During the party, Bruce and Clark have a conversation about legacies.
I find it foreshadowing that Clark was dismissive of Jason, considering the dark path he eventually takes in the Injustice Universe.
All it takes is one bad day-Joker
Jason was killed as a teenager by the Joker when he was operating as Robin. After digging himself out of his own grave, he was kidnapped by the League of Assassins and dipped in a Lazarus Pit by Talia Al Ghul. This traumatic experience changed Jason irrevocably and he became the anti-hero Red Hood.
In the Injustice Universe, Joker tricks Clark into killing Lois Lane and their unborn child. This traumatic experience changed him irrevocably, and he became a dictator and took over the World.
Clark was dismissive of Jason, and was not empathic of the mental toil being murdered, waking up in a grave, being kidnapped and dipped in a Lazarus Pit took on him. This came back full circle on Clark, as he suffered from an equally traumatic experience. In the aftermath he became worse than Jason ever was, becoming a dictator, killing heroes (Billy Batson and Oliver Queen), and trapping Young Justice in the Phantom Zone.
And Clark isn't the only culprit in this conversation. Bruce was willing to dismiss Damian as part of his legacy because he was angry like Jason. He totally ignores the trauma and indoctrination that Damian endured at the hands of the League of Assassins. In the end, Bruce ends of losing Damian to Clark. I agree with Clark on one thing, if Bruce would have put down Joker years ago (the irony), Injustice would have never happened.
With the invasion over, Bruce and Superman started fighting again. I wasn't down with either of them. On the one hand, the Regime's right. Scumbag murderers and rapists deserve to die. But on the other hand, I'm no fan of government authority. Especially the dictatorial variety. So while the World's Finest fight each other, I fight for the people. The weak. The innocent. Anyone who can't protect themselves. When they cry out for a savior, I'll answer. As for the criminals who threaten them? They need to know that their actions have consequences. That the Red Hood is coming for them. -Jason Todd

Birds of Prey: Sirens of Justice #1 Review
A Gail Simone Birds of Prey story hitting the Digital First Lineup? Yes Please! I have been keeping up with most of DC's digital line of books and have been enjoying Simone's Flash stories, but Birds of Prey is another level entirely! She is my favorite Birds writer, but I think I may be hyping this way too much already! I better just get to my review, and away we go... Read more »
