"what if someone's faking-" WHO CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAREEEEEEEEEEEEEES LITERALLY WHO EVEN CAAAAAAAAAAAARES OH MY FUCKING GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD DUDE WHO EVEN CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO GIVES A FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think people would stop faking DID if they just felt comfortable with the fact that they like inventing and performing original characters and that's ok. Every dissociative identity disorder faker who's ever disgraced themselves on TikTok could have been saved if they just joined a D&D table or an improv troupe.
I don't think it should be necessary for me to state how much I fucking despise r/systemscringe and similar communities and forums. What do they even think is so good about what they're doing? They actively hunt down traumatised minors on the internet, post their screenshots and publicly shame them until they are too scared to be active anymore. They fakeclaim anyone and everyone who doesn't precisely conform to their exact definition of what a plural should be - which is ironic since the majority of them are not plural. Everything they say seems to contradict itself, it's hard to tell what they think a system can be/have. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided systems weren't real altogether.
It's like
High alter count? fake
Low alter count? fake
Positive, healthy relationship with alters? fake
Negative, unhealthy relationship with alters? fake
Traumagenic? faking trauma to harm traumatized victims
Endogenic? faking a disorder, even though they never claimed to have it
Tulpagenic? cultural appropriation.
Enjoys problematic media? oh god they can't have interests!!! They *must* be faking
Stereotypically cringe/2020core? fake.
Basic person(people) functioning in life and working a job? fake.
Struggling to function properly? fake.
Stuck living with abusers/still being abused? fake.
Easily triggered? fake.
Hardly ever triggered? fake.
Vivid memories of trauma? fake.
No memories of trauma? fake.
Mixed origin? fake.
Undiagnosed DID/OSDD? fake.
Diagnosed DID/OSDD? fake.
Minor? fake. (which is odd, considering DID is known to form in early childhood)
Adult? fake.
Had more than one account of trauma/abused by more than one person? fake.
Ritually abused? fake.
Abused sexually/verbally/emotionally, neglected, gaslit or manipulated (any form of abuse besides or alongside physical)? fake
Honestly I am so sick of people calling specific chronic illnesses "popular" because there's a spike in diagnosing them. It’s really starting to piss me off.
As someone who's actively in the process getting diagnosed with both POTS and EDS (I'm already two doctors visits in and was told by a rumitoligist) it's really disheartening to see people call out others for "faking the disorder". While I'm aware that in the chronic illnesses community there is a bit of a problem with faking disorders and inaccurate self diagnosis among individuals, most people that say they have a chronic illness (more common or not) truly do have it!
The reason I'm ranting about this is because both POTS and EDS are seen as very popular chronic illnesses right now and it makes me feel really terrible. I'm going through all this trouble to find out what's wrong with my body just to have a disease that people love to fake claim. I'm not saying that I'd rather have another chronic illnesses if that's the way you're interpreting it, what I'm saying is; I wish that people would mind their own damn business about other people's chronic illnesses, ESPECIALLY if they do not have one themselves.
If someone is self diagnosing a disease, maybe that's what they need to help them get through the day because most times doctors refuse to listen.
If someone is faking than maybe it's because they just want to feel a little bit different or special. This isn't the right thing to do but generalizing the diseases they're faking only ends up hurting the people that actually have the disease.
Never be the person that generalizes a disease or disability because of one experience.
DID or OSDD systems, im curious if this is similar to your experiences. People who know stuff sbt this im curious to hear your thoughts too.
(Remaking this bc the og sent in a community)
Long text below. Plz read? No one ever reads my long text posts on either of my blogs.
I get semi-frequent personality changes, most noticeable in food & clothing choices, and sudden but uncommon changes in interests.
Asides from that, I do and say things that do not feel as though they belong to me when I get overwhelmed.
I don't exactly feel amnesia, though i do have a continously bad memory. Most memories must be "unlocked" by what I would consider a key/trigger or else I can't remember a thing. Similar to how switches may occur, but it is seperate from the personality changes as far as I can tell.
I'm also unsure if I experience dissociation. I don't beleive i do, unless feeling a bit fuzzy in the head (similarly to when overheated or tired) randomly is a form of it.
I have a habit of consiously pretending to be others to like quickly switch emotions when i need to. Its seperate from the actual identity changes afaik.
Also I lack trauma. I mean, i was bullied in 4th grade and spanked for having meltdowns since I was 2, but neither of those is something deep. Just made me self conscious and quiet except for when im not.
I dont talk to any alters. Sometimes I pretend ti have them, since it keeps me company as a lonely kid with 0 real friends, and sometimes I talk to myself and get indecisive, but i really choose the responses. In the end it feels vaguely like cognitive dissonance but also not???
I understand yall arent exactly qualified to diagnose but i'm just curious if its similar enough that its a good possibility or if its likely just teenager moodiness + compulsive faking.
Most systems who know about r/systemscringe hate the subreddit, no matter what stance on syscourse they have. We also hate it and we wanted to explain why.
Anyone can get posted
While r/systemscringe's first rule says that only fakers are allowed to be posted, their description says that both real systems and fakers are allowed to be posted.
First rule:
1. Must be cringe content: This subreddit is intended for posting cringe related to factitious and exaggerated portrayals of DID/OSDD (including the online roleplaying of "plurality".) Minors under age 15 are not allowed to be posted (see rule 3). Personal write-ins and stories are allowed (flair as textpost). Remember to censor/omit all identifiable information.
Description:
For all the cringe associated with those who claim to be "systems" - faking or not. Remember to read the rules before posting or commenting, long live the cringe!
This contradiction allows people to post real systems while presenting those systems as "fake" (especially when posted without a flair), without facing any consequences from the moderators.
Flairs: They have several flairs, including a "non-faker cringe" flair which makes clear that the system posted isn't faking. Using that flair is admitting that they find real systems "cringe" (ableism). When not using this flair, that doesn't necessarily mean that the system posted is faking, but it could easily be interpreted as such.
Misinformation
r/systemscringe has a misinformation problem, even though they claim to combat misinformation. They have two rules related to this:
6. Do not fakeclaim without a reason and/or evidence: Provide a reason or provide evidence as to why you believe a person is faking a dissociative disorder.
7. Don't spread misinformation about DID/OSDD: This includes, but is not limited to: supporting endogenics, denying the existence of clinical DID and OSDD, and other such misinformation.
Rule 6 is usually followed, but the reasons people give why certain systems are fake almost never include a source. Sometimes their reasons go directly against well known facts about CDDs (or human psychology in general), such as "they are faking because they have an introject of a popular character", "they are faking because their child parts don't act like actual children" or "they are faking because they talk about their symptoms online". This violates rule 7, but that is almost never acknowledged.
What if they're right?
If an actual faker gets posted there, instead of a real system who happens to "look fake", it still won't help anyone.
Someone "exposing" a faker on reddit won't make them stop faking. Alot of people who fake disorders have some serious underlying issues they need to work on. Being "exposed" will usually just convince them they need to fake more or "better", instead of getting the help they need. You can't shame someone into becoming a better person.
If the faker is trolling, that faker will definitely fake more once posted, because that will get them more attention from that subreddit. In that case, r/systemscringe is feeding the trolls.
My takeaway:
r/systemscringe makes fun of both fakers and real systems, present real systems as fake, allows misinformation to be shared, doesn't stop people from faking and feeds the trolls.
They don't care about people with CDDs, they just care about laughing at "cringe".
istg bro i cant with these disorder fakers anymore. what do you mean you think you have centricide alters. why have half of the centricide fans ive met been fucking did/osdd fakers with 'nazi' alters who ofc usually use it as an excuse to call me antisemetic slurs or whatever. you all suck and i hope your ableism bites you in the ass and you get sued for billions of dollars and put on live tv for the world to see like other famous fakers omfggg. no you did not suddenly split a 'nazbol' alter because you dont talk to your dad as much as you should or whatever and your mommy made you do your homework and disciplines you when you act out oh my goshhhhh
"i... i have 300 mental illnesses and also 43000 centricide alters because of my trauma" you make actual trauma survivors sick go clean your room you ableist loser
i don’t think tweens and younger teens claiming to have various disorders is really an issue in 90% of situations. if you’re faking a disorder, something else is wrong with you. idk what but that’s the fact of the matter
but either way that 10 year old on line claiming to have autism isn’t really causing legitimate harm to me (an autistic man) or autistic folks in general.
