It was quite a week this past week for fun bird discoveries! First we had the sighting of Julia’s offspring (the mourning doves!) and then there was the sunset visit of thousands of purple martins that came to roost downtown. They’ve come for a brief stopover in the city before heading down to South America where they will spend the winter. While here they enjoy rest and a big bug buffet so that they can gather strength for their 3000 mile journey south. I just love that they chose the one city block (and the building!) where the symphony plays.
