Is anyone...is anyone from the Grey Faction an active Wikipedia editor???? I needed to check Wikipedia because I forgot when the diagnosis changed from MPD to DID in the DSM (I assume when the DSM-IV was released, but I needed to check anyway), and the talking points on the page for Dissociative Identity Disorder weirdly reek of Grey Faction talking points?? Like Satanic panic is mentioned in the first few sentences, and like, ok, yeah, I know that a lot of relevant stuff was happening around that time, but the tone the Wikipedia page adopts is kinda odd??? Like sentences like "Psychologists familiar with the malleability of memory argued that they were constructing false memories." just seem weirdly passive aggressive? At at least one point, the Wikipedia page uses a Grey Faction-affiliated research as a source??? Like isn't that weird??? Or maybe I'm just wilding?

No, they do edit and have editors and they're always in there, weirdly, wiki is a big platform for them

Ross was one of the foremost experts on DID. He ran his own trauma clinics where he had worked with patients for decades. His works on DID are numerous and cited throughout DID literature.

He's evil and abusive and he hypnotized his patients to give them False Memory Syndrome. Never mind that the allegations are weak and unsubstantiated, and False Memory Syndrome was invented by a group of accused child molesters to defend themselves from the accusations of their children.

If given a choice between validating endogenic systems and validating pseudoscience made up by people who raped their children to discredit the memories of their victims, sysmeds will choose the child rapists.

Creating false happy stories to not remember the trauma is normal and proven

False trauma memories of early childhood, are proven to not be how our brains work at all.

Often times kids will write fantasy stories to try rewriting their past, but the themes of the trauma will often show threw the stories or be themes that keep coming up, and often end up with multiple trauma responses when these themes are questioned or noticed by the kid.

This shit is real, the trauma is real, and the false memory narrative is harmful to childhood trauma survivors.

[Part 1/2]We've been in and out of the medical system since we we're quite young (for various reasons), and have dealt with a lot of abuse and maltreatment from medical professionals. We recently(ish) learn that a number of those professionals are members of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation, which explains so much, but is a lot to process. Problem is that we really need to see a psychiatrist to help us cope with our history of abuse etc., but we are terrified that they will also be a part

[Part 2/2] of FMSF, and will also abuse us. Do you have any advice on how to safely gauge if a medical professional supports the ideals of FMSF or are a part of the organization, etc? We need help, but we don’t want to re-expose ourselves to malicious people, or those that support them.

 The FMSF has some weaknesses in their philosophy. The major one that I absolutely despise is this:  The information on this site focuses on the current controversy about the accuracy of adult claims of “repressed” memories of childhood sexual abuse that are often made decades after the alleged events, for which there is no external corroboration. 

 This thinking allows an excuse for every abuser to ‘get away with’ their abuse. People who have survived abuse know it can take years before they tell anyone about their abuse. The reasons are many and valid.  Statements like, “For which there is no external corroboration” lead to silencing survivors.

 That sentence allows the FMSF to protect abusers. Which they do. They are an abusive organization. 

No medical evidence; ‘No external corroboration.’  No witnesses: ‘No external corroboration.’   No confession by the abuser: ‘No external corroboration.’  

Your lived experience is the only, the only, ‘corroboration’ you need. 

 To answer your question, you can ask them point blank if they are a member of FMSF.  Other things to ask are:  What are your thoughts about______________?  How long have you been treating people who live with _____________?   Do you think people in your profession cause trauma to their patients?  Do they practice trauma informed care? Ask them anything you want so you feel comfortable.  They work for you.
