Y’know it pisses me off that that one Wonder Woman comic (that even fans hate) ruined the Amazons reputation and made them rapists who kidnap sailors in order to reproduce, bc not only are dudebros being like “The TRUTH about the Amazons!!!” but they run around acting like it’s real mythology (bc ig the idea of Amazons being sexual predators is all ppl need to think that it’s a genuine part of mythology) but when you actually look at the mythology the Amazons actually have a chill diplomatic relationship with an all male tribe called the Gargareans, whom they copulated with every year to reproduce, keeping the daughters and giving the sons to their fathers.

But unfortunately that doesn’t go well with internet weirdos rape fantasies.

Wikipedia told me there's some stories where the anazons annually met with an all male tribe known as the gargareans, solely for the purposes of having children. They'd meet, have sex, then the male kids would go to the gargareans and the female kids would go to the amazons. Wikipedia gave me no indications that this story was a common one, however. So i don't know if this story has any merit. I would like to think it does, but I never really looked for any citations and/or back up information.

But if this story actually does hold any merit, I think it would've been a good thing to feature in the riordanverse. The Amazons wouldn't have needed male slaves if they had a group of segregated men to annually meet with. Also, this story could work at DC. Imagine if we learned themyscrira (or however it's spelled) had some kind of symmetrically distant island populated only by men. Maybe both groups left the world of communal genders because they'd been hurt by society too many times? I don't know. All I know is that having two segregated societies for the genders might actually allow for some really interesting stories. Maybe the Amazons and the Gargareans would have to learn to commune with each other. Sons could finally meet mothers, and daughters might finally meet fathers. Or something. I don't really know. All I know is that I want to see some kind of comic or book or tv show exploring this concept. Either in the riordanverse or in the dcu.

I wish they'd bring Wonder Woman's brother Jason back into the comics or for the Gargareans to make a comeback in any capacity. The way her stories are being written right now there's no way it'd happen but it would be cool to see.

small details in story

so @arrtemiss & @virtuestars & I decided to combine all our interests into one to make a story: cyberpunk & greek mythology, and we added in small details of other deities to make it cool, so here it is:

• cars are called Coeus

• school is called “Metis’ School for the Brightest Minds”

• Declan (Dionysus)’s twin brother was Zachary (Zagreus) (kudos if you know the story I’m talking about)

• the famous dancing & singing band in the city are the Korybantes 

• martial arts group in the school are the Amazons (their captain is Penni/Penthesilea & Gargareans

• their mascot is the Hydra

• their school object is the Golden Fleece

• the corporation in charge of placing oxygen filtration systems & lights around the city is Eryphaessa Corps (kind of a pun because of who Theia is)

• the city is called Othrys (because all the Titans are in charge of this city, so we thought it would be cool to name it after Mount Othrys)

• there’s a billboard outside of Anya (Artemis’s) room which is of a strip club in the area called Methe District, which is called Mystis Room

The island of Themyscira was populated solely by women, but the men had a place of their own. The island of Thalarion was home to the Gargareans, the male equivalent of Themyscira’s amazons.  All of these men were strong and beautiful, but that didn’t mean there was nothing they were afraid of. Thalarion wasn’t far from muncher island, Even the most jacked Gargareans were afraid to set foot on that island and the ones that were stupid enough to try never returned. but when a muncher found it’s  way to Thalarion, nobody was safe. Tharion could be dangerous for a muncher. He had to run fast to avoid being stomped on by giant feet. but one thing made it all worth it and that was penises. The Gargareans didn’t wear underwear so someone of muncher size only needed to look up to see penises galore! One penis in particular that caught the mincher’s eye was Henry Cavill’s. It was big to a Gargarean and even bigger to a muncher. The tiny man jumped up and latched onto Henry’s cock. It gave that big dick a suck and startled Henry. As nice as the free blowjob was, Henry knew what would come next. He tried to remove the little guy from his dick but ended up getting sucked inside him. The tiny man burped and ran off to further explore Thalarion.

In Greek mythology, the Gargareans, or Gargarenses, (Greek: ΓαργαρείςGargareis) were an all-male tribe. They copulated with the Amazons annually in order to keep both tribes reproductive. Varying accounts suggest that they may have been kidnapped, raped, and murdered for this purpose, or that they may have had relations willingly.
