5.) Frequently misspelled words

6.) Missing spaces between words

8.) Posts audios and videos instead of typing

9.) Express themselves through custom emojis

10.) Use an AAC (Augmentative and alternative communication) device

Some users have intellectual disabilities, use speech to text, struggle with grammar, have hand tremmers, have high support needs, etc.

Regardless of how they communicate and their reason why, they still deserve respect. They are trying their best.

Heres a shout out to all grammar nerds everywhere.....

it must be hard being so fanatical about you're grammar. your never free from carrying the wait of having to have all you're sentences be correct and you cant help but find the fault in everyone elses grammar and but you dont want to say anything cuz you dont want to offend nobody. i must applaud you for you're restraint. salute you. less people in the world understand grammar as good as they use to. as good as you do. us writers must except that you are on another level of intelligence for whom are we to compete with such a level of discipline? whom are we, us mortals, to try to attain to such heights of grammatical glory? be still. the world quiets for you're pain. it bows before you're great grammatical perfection. we do good to recognize you're pain.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but.

ACRONYMS are a specific type of abbreviation where each letter stands for a different word. For example, ATM starts for automatic teller machine, and USB stands for Universal Serial Bus.

Abbreviations that are NOT acronyms shoukd not be written in all caps. Think “info” for information or “sis” for sister. Those just get capitalized (on not) like regular words, based on where they are in the sentence or whether they’re part of a title etc.

“App” Is not an acronym. It is an abbreviation. For application. It is therefore not written in all caps. It’s an app. Not an APP.

“Fax” is also not an acronym. It’s an abbreviation for facsimile, and shoukd therefore not be written FAX. (This one is perhaps a Japan problem… LOL)

And the most infuriating of all… “visa,” as in the thing that gives you permission to live in a foreign country, is not an abbreviation OR and acronym. It’s just a word. Your phone wants to write VISA for the same reason my phone wants to write GACKT or X JAPAN even though that looks stupid in an English sentence… because a corporation that owns something with that name (in this case, the VISA credit card company) has decided that people should write it The Correct Way™️ even in a casual text.

But it’s not the same thing. You get a work visa or a spouse visa. You get a VISA gold card if said spouse also makes a lot of money, I guess. But the two things are not related, and the thing that gives you a valid immigration status shouldn’t be capitalized.

(I also want to add that I don’t blame any individual for NOT KNOWING these things. Everyone has things they don’t know, and you can’t use something correctly if you don’t know what the usage is… but I HATE seeing big companies who should have writers and editors in their PR departments doing this and making it mainstream… capital letters do actually mean something besides looking important or cool?)

Grammar and composition lesson of the day:

When you refer to two people separately but together - she and I; her and Beth; him and Alex - mentally remove the “and [other person]” and check to make sure the sentence makes sense.

“Her and I came to see if you’re okay” becomes “Her came to see if you’re okay,” and that doesn’t scan. “She came to see if you’re okay” does. Now when you place the “and I” back in, you get “She and I came to see if you’re okay.”

When in doubt, remove the “and ___” to see if it works. If it doesn’t, you’ve used the wrong pronoun.

My favorite part about the localization of this game is that the localizers understand grammar, and when to use it correctly or incorrectly to add flavor to the characters.
