The past two months I've been back on my fitness journey. And with amazing coaching from @jeffvjr over with @strengthactual I am proud to have been able to reach back to a solid back squat again. Just 2 months ago I struggled with 225-235lbs and just the other night after keeping consistency and following my coaching and programming to a T, I was able to hit 137kg-301lbs. #transformationtuesday COLLEGE EDITION. A couple weeks ago as a member of the @saintleoalumni Board of Trustees; I had the honor of taking part in the presidents inauguration ceremonies. I got to wear a cap and gown for the first time since 04, this photo is in the bottom right. (I didn’t walk for my Masters degrees.) I sat in the same gym as I did in 2004 and had a chance to reflect on the person I’ve become since the photo from 04. In many ways I grew and in many many ways not so much lol. I’m still the same guy who doesn’t know when to go to sleep at night, I’m still the same guy working on goals, trying to help others. I take great satisfaction and trying to better myself and those around me every day. This is perhaps the most important lesson I’ve ever learned from Saint Leo...... Sidenote I really can’t tell if I’m getting chubby again or getting old. Maybe both? I’ve been stressed the last six months or so...I probably gained more weight than I want to but I’m not overly worried. Going to do another post about this in detail. The Cliff Notes version: This is a journey. There will be ups and downs, you’ll cross puddles and you’ll cross oceans. Meet @jarps_journey HAPPY BIRTHDAY POST!! My life has been an uphill battle with my weight. My whole life I’ve been diagnosed with severe asthma which kept me from doing a lot of things a normal kid would be doing. I couldn’t go out and play, if I tried sports I would end up with an attack, I was allergic to a list of foods, my diet was limited. A huge portion of my life was spent in pediatric ICU I was put on steroids for my asthma that ballooned me to close to 500 pounds. In 2015 after losing my grandmother I went into a silent depression and gained the most amount of my weight which almost cost me my life. After suffering a major asthma attack I code blued in my house when the EMS that arrived were not ALS cert (they couldn’t give EPI) a parametric tell me “I’m so sorry” as they wheeled me out of my house. At that moment fighting for my life I pleaded with God to give me a second chance and I would make things right. My life was spared. I had lost 80lbs on my own, but my asthma kept from losing anymore as every time I’d have an attack I’d be put back on steroids. I made the choice to have in Nov 2016 to have Gastric Sleeve and use it as a tool to it was made to be, and not as the short cut so many people think it is. I’m down 244lbs. I work out 5-6 days a week, and I’m following my dreams on becoming a pro wrestler. Starting tip: FORGET EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS EVER TOLD YOU. Believe in one person only and that is yourself. You are going to go through trials and tribulations along this journey, but through it all you will find yourself and experience the self-love you’ve been missing all along. Meet @vsg_kingtut_77 I have been battling obesity for the majority of my life until back in 2012 my father passed away due to complications with Diabetes. That was a wake up call for me to get serious about my health not only for my sake but for the sake of my wife and especially sons. I realized that had I not taken a step in the right direction I was in serious risk of orphaning my kids before I turned 40 and the mere thought of another man raising my sons scared me to death. I did a ton of research on the right option for me and ultimately decided to have the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in January of 2015. I have subsequently lost 129 pounds and have gone from 5XL scrubs to XL.
