Dungeon Meshi Human Interracial offspring (Mostly Spoiler Free)

As you might know, in Dungeon Meshi "human" is a term that refers to not only "tallman" (the equivalent of our world humans) but also Half-Foots, Ogres, Dwarves and Elves.

Besides the weird bone counting classification Kabru made I think one of the defining "human" aspects might be being able to have offspring with each other (unclear if that's possible at all between human and demi-human).

That said the Adventurer's Guide has some information about it that I wanted to share.

First, Humans in dungeon meshi are divided between short and long lived races, those are:

Long Lived Human Races:

Elf

Dwarf

Gnome

Short Lived Human Races:

Tallman

Half-foot

Ogre

As a general rule mixed offspring seems to be infertile but there's some exceptions.

Confirmed mixed race offspring that can leave descendants (Fertile offspring):

Tallman x Half-Foot

Tallman x Ogre

Dwarf x Gnome

An easy chart with the info! (It's not that complicated but its easier for me to see like this) (edit: added info what mixes have confirmed and speculated characters)

Seems like short-lived species can only have fertile offspring with each other and the same for long lived. Although there's no information about elves being able to have them with any other races, maybe because they live so much more than the other long-lived species (400 vs 200 & 240)

There's also no information about Ogres with Half-foot but I don't imagine the logistics to produce offspring would work there 😳

Another thing is that the Adventurer's Bible describes that the tallman have had an explosive growth due to having fertile offspring with half-foot and Ogres , so I wonder if that means their offspring are tallman too? Or are they still half-half-foot (a funny name) and half-Ogre? Unclear!

Homebrew for all the half-human combinations possible with the races found in the player’s handbook! I had a lot of fun making these, though they took a while. Have fun playing!

Half-Dwarven Player Race

Half-Dwarves (Total: 10 Race Points)

Dwarves and Humans aren't normally able to reproduce, but sometimes through the assistance of powerful magic or alchemical means, such a pairing can produce children. Half-Dwarves stand shorter than Humans and taller than Dwarves, appearing more stout than Humans with heavier features (cheekbones, chins, noses, bone structure in general) but not quite to the extent of a full blooded Dwarf. Like Dwarves, beards are common on Males and heavy braids around the ears common on females as the hair in those areas grow faster than in Humans (though not quite as fast as found in their Full Dwarven kin). Half-Dwarves can reproduce with Humans or Dwarves, but oddly, a side effect of the magic needed to bring them to term means they can't reproduce with each other (though were a Half-Dwarf pair to use similar means as their Human and Dwarven parents, then on such occasion could a pairing bear children). Half-Dwarven Twins, while rare, have been known to happen, whereas Half-Dwarven Triplets have yet to be seen.

Half-Dwarf Racial Traits:

Medium sized Humanoid (Dwarf, Human)

Dwarf Blood: for purposes of Race related effects, Half-Dwarves count as both Humans and Dwarves.

Base Speed: 30 ft.

Ability Modifier: +2 to the Stat of their Choice.

Starting Languages: Dwarven & Common

Bonus Languages: Any except Secret Languages.

Industrious: gain a +2 Racial Bonus to the Craft or Profession Skill of their choice.

Durable: gain Toughness as a Bonus Feat

Strong-Willed: gain a +2 Bonus on all Will saving Throws.

Darkvision 60 ft.

Weapon Familiarity: Half-Dwarves are Proficient with Battleaxes, Heavy Picks, and Warhammers, and treat any weapon with the word “Dwarven” in its name as a Martial Weapon. [2 Race Points]

Half-Dwarf Alternate Race Traits:

Crafty: gain Cunning as a Bonus Feat [Replaces Durable]

Life Blessed: Some Half-Dwarves absorb some of the magic needed to bring them to term. They gain a +2 Racial Bonus on all Saving Throws made to resist Death effects, Saves against Negative Energy effects, Fortitude saves made to remove Negative levels, and Constitution checks made to stabilize if reduced to negative hit points [Replaces Industrious]

Focused Study: At 1st, 8th, and 16th Levels, Half-Dwarves gain Skill Focus in a Skill of their choice as a Bonus Feat. [Replaces both Industrious and Durable]

Shrewd: +1 Racial Bonus on Appraise and Perception checks. [Replaces Weapon Familiarity]

Emperor Ubba Vastran I (May 12th, 1291 2E - ) is the 11th King of Phalgrave, Chief of the Kaevbul Mountains, and founder of the Phalgravich Empire. Ubba is a half-dwarf, the first born son of Queen Unora IV of Phalgrave and the dwarven Chief Tymador Basaltheart of Kaevbul. 

After the death of his mother in 1342 2E, his father abdicated, leaving Ubba to succeed both thrones. His coronation caused some strife with the dwarves, who saw a human unfit to rule over their clans. Their support was easily bought though, with gifts of gold and gem, and promises of greater wealth under the new King. With his two kingdoms newly unified, he then set out to advance them. 

During the first decade of his reign he built the Lontevo Cathedral, expanded the dwarven industry, and established a standing conscription army. He would also start the Annex Wars, (1350 - 1364 2E) a series of widespread brutal conflicts in the neighboring nations of Eelyve, Dostira, and Jezeran, which ultimately resulted in the formation of the Phalgravich Empire.

The newly acquired land and wealth would bring prosperity for the fledgling empire, and an age of exploration began with adventurers taking to the vast Agaras Ocean in search of new land and treasures. 

The Empire’s greatest treasure rests in Ubba’s platinum briar crown: a glass vessel containing the blood of the fallen god, Aluesan. The vessel was a gift from the Abbey of Red Penance, bestowed upon him by the High Confessor after the construction of the Lontevo Cathedral. The blood signifies his divine right to rule, his act of atonement, and his commitment to the Abbey.

I'd like to request a pallet, if you're willing! My character's name is Tomoe. She is a half-dwarf barbarian, tundra storm specifically. Brown hair, Amber eyes, and tanned, freckled skin. She's was orphaned in a big city and got into pit fighting, which she got very good at. She's brash, aggressive, and strong willed. I associate her with browns, tans, gold, and rich blues.

Tomoe seems like such a wonderous being! For her, I wanted to capture the city–like elements of her upbringing: sharp edges for the many buildings and her fighting spirit, materials as mixed as the people she encountered, and a bit of metal for her dwarven heritage. Enjoy!
