Like Wednesday, I feel "tortilla" is one of those words where you know exactly how it sounds and is properly pronounced, but when you ready it your brain says "we must say every single letter, especially the silent ones!".
On top of everything else, it annoys me that it seemed to be the cumulation of Jamie's accountability journey, when he took responsibility for something that wasn't actually his fault? (two cumulations of his arcs, taking accountability for something he didn't actually do, and forgiving his father who had never apologised or asked for forgiveness for abusing and statutorily r*aping him)
YEP. Jamie has a lot of ACTUAL stuff they could have shown him taking accountability for, but 85% of him apologizing to the team for his s1 behavior and making it up to them by doing better occurs offscreen somewhere during s2, so that he's magically and pretty immediately best friends with everyone again, while onscreen we instead watch him flagellate himself over situations he was the victim in. great! 🙃
I do have to say, recognizing my religious trauma and embracing my humanity in all its sinful glory is great, in part, because I can relate to the most insain, bitching, religious-trauma-fueled art
Chris: How are you holding up? Eltanin: I… that was so special. Chris: This job is special, in every way. I’m sorry, I should have thought about what I was bringing you too. Eltanin: I think maybe I needed it... Maybe? Are kids always so ehm... Easy to help? Chris: Most kids are, some are worried about their parents, but for the most, they part the easiest. Now come, we have more work to do, and one... I think it might be yours. Eltanin: Mine? Chris walked through the wrecks before he stopped by a teenage boy. He was in a grey zone, where they might live, and they might not make it. It was still uncertain, kneeling next to him, he saw a very familiar fear in the eyes that met him.
Boy: I don’t want to... Chris: I know. Boy: But you are... Chris: I am, but you are not there yet.
-he motioned to Eltanin to come closer.-
This is my grandson, would it be okay if he kept you company for a while?
Eltanin: I… hi...
