I read you don't like to be involved in discourse so delete this if it makes you uncomfortable.
I wanted to know your take on what you believe to be the better umbrella term for the community? Like alterhuman, nonhuman and the like, because I've seen you tag your posts as both.
I think otherkin is probably the most inclusive but I also don't think it matters too much.
Alterhuman implies that you are experiencing an alternative form of humanity. This is perfect for people like me who (often but not always) ID as human or with humanity in some way alongside their kins. However, it excludes people who see themselves as only their kin.
On the other hand, nonhuman removes any connection to humanity, therefore excluding the other half!
I think otherkin works best because it includes both sides + many therians consider themselves *insert species* kin too.
I don't think it's a super big deal either way, though, as people generally get the idea what you mean with any of the words. I tag my posts as all 3 because they apply to all 3!
EDIT: I've been informed in the comments that alterhuman means "alternatives to humanity," therefore including the fully nonhuman as well as those who identify with an aspect of humanity! I change my opinion to personally preferring alterhuman. (Thank you for educating me!)
Kin community, which do you prefer as a collective term?
Alterhuman
Nonhuman
Otherkin
Therian
Other (answer in notes)

(Also on the discourse thing, I don't mind chatting about preferences etc, just don't want to get involved in shipping wars or spiritual disagreements etc etc bc they are not relevant to the blog!)
