Backstory: Hogwarts university is divided into 5 faculties, each hosting a couple of degrees per faculty. There's 5 years, the first three are obligatory for everyone, but certain degrees require you to take the full 5 years. At the end of your third year you take an examination called C.A.s -> Concentration Assessments. The certification you recieve equals to a muggle undergrad degree. To further your education however, you can continue with the two extra, and final years, which will bring you to the M.E -> Mastery Examination.

Faculty of Arcane Theory

Sigilcraft -> base off the magic system in witch hat atelier (idea crafted by me)

Sigilcraft is the study of the "source code" of spellcasting. Most witches and wizards go their whole lives using the shorthand without ever learning what it stands for, like driving a car without knowing what's under the hood. It's a Highly restricted course.

Core years: This major requires to complete all of the five years, the first three are the same for everyone: Sigil literacy (reading/tracing known glyphs), the history of how wand shorthand was standardized (who decided that swish means that glyph?), safe practice mediums (drawing in sand, ash, or enchanted slate before ever touching ink and paper) Sigils across the globe.

Specializations: Applied enchantment (turning known sigils into objects, wards, curse breaking work), restoration (repairing corrupted/decayed sigils in ancient sites or artifacts), academic theory (teaching, cataloguing, the history of sigil standardization and spellwright.

Careers: Wandmaker, enchanter for magical object manufacturers, curse breaker, artifact conservator, professor, the office of sigil wardens, academic researcher, restoration and the codex

The Spellwright specialisation: This path is not advertised once enrolled, nor is encourage to outsiders. It's known only in the most elite circles, as it's a very selective career that even nepotism has it's limits to what can and can't do with it. This specialisation is designed to shape the student to develop an original spell that will be incremented into people's day to day life (see it as a phd research kind of situation) and to teach them how to work, restore and manufacture copies of the sigils that are the heart of the wizarding world (so the spells everyone uses daily). There's only one way to apply to this path, you're picked by a professor and tested by a member of the Codex.

The Codex: It's divided into two sections: the spellwrights department -- Deep down in the Department of Mysteries sits the master set of blueprints, the true, uncompressed version of every spell in official circulation. Alter a Codex entry and you corrupt every version of it currently in use across the wizarding world; which is exactly why access to it is treated as a matter of state security. And The Office of Sigil Wardens: A sister body to the Unspeakables, tasked with guarding the Codex and reviewing any proposed change to it. Where Unspeakables research the unknown, Sigil Wardens control what's already known and stop anyone from quietly rewriting it.

Spellwrights are basically then, the closest thing the wizarding world has to constitutional lawmakers, except the "laws" are the mechanics of magic itself. Numbers are capped by tradition (14 active at any time, and one seat is reserved for a Hogwarts graduate), so a new Spellwright is only made when an old one dies, retires, or is stripped of the title. Thus making it an elite, niche career. Top students, again only a selected few, are most likely pushed into the Office of Sigil Wardens after graduation as it's more "generous" with it's acceptance numbers.

Divination

Core years: Reading methods (tea leaves, crystal balls, palmistry, cartomancy), critical evaluation of prophecy (divination is a major that's constantly fighting for legitimacy against Arithmancy and Sigilcraft snobbery). Specializations: Dream interpretation, prophetic linguistics (for the rare real Seers), applied divination for risk assessment (insurance, Ministry security). Careers: Professional Seer (rare, high-status if legitimate), tea shop reader (low-status), risk consultant, professor.

Arithmancy

Core years: Numerical magic theory, spell-strength calculation, probability magic.

Specializations: Ward strength engineering, magical economics/actuarial work (Gringotts loves these graduates), curse timing calculation.

Careers: Gringotts analyst, Ministry policy modeling, professor.

Faculty of Natural Magic

Applied Xenozoology (Care of Magical Creatures) inspired by the Blue Exorcist magic system)

-> another 5 years long degree Shared core years for foundation (Yr 1–2): Creature Anatomy & Magical Physiology, Habitat & Behavior Theory, Creature-Inflicted Curse & Venom Treatment, Ethics of Containment (classification system taught here: X through XXXXX = the spine of the whole degree)

Specializations (declared end of Yr 2), mirroring the meister qualifications in blue exorcist ->

Handler: the old "Tamer" track in blue exorcist: bonding/training XXX–XXXX creatures (hippogriffs, thestrals, graphorns). Heavy fieldwork, apprenticeship based.

Warden: combat/containment specialist for XXXXX-class creatures (dragons, acromantula colonies, basilisks). Inspired by the "Knights" meister.

Healer (Creature Medicine): treating magical creatures themselves, not humans; a real vet-school equivalent. (inspired by the doctor meister)

Naturalist: research/classification track, the ones who go find undiscovered species and argue about reclassifying a creature's X-rating in academic journals.

Diplomat: this specialisation is much more political base as it's the bridge between the human magical beings (aka witches and wizards) and other magical creatures (centaurs, merpeople, goblins…) that are not fully human. You will deal with Ministry relations and beings' rights.

Careers: Ministry Regulatory, Control of Magical Creatures, dragon reserves, magizoology/research, creature-inclusive healing, beast-rights advocacy law, diplomat.

Potions & Alchemical Sciences

After the three core years you can chose a specialisation in either: Medicinal potioneering, poisons & antidotes (forensic track), industrial brewing (mass market potions, basically St Mungo's supply chain of the sort), experimental/unstable potions (research only, heavily regulated).

Careers: St Mungo's apothecary, potions researcher, product developer, forensic potioneer, professor.

Magical Botany (aka Herbology)

Core years: Plant taxonomy, greenhouse management, dangerous flora containment.

Specializations: Magical agriculture, conservation of endangered plant species, botanical alchemy.

Careers: Ministry conservation officer, commercial grower, potions-ingredient supplier.

Astronomy

Core years: Celestial navigation, star charts as timing tools for potions/rituals, basic astrology theory (distinct from Divination as this is the mechanics, not the prophecy).

Specializations: Magical astrophysics (how celestial events amplify or disrupt magic: eclipses, comet years), navigation (useful for portkey/broom long-haul travel)

Careers: Ministry Transport Dept (portkey scheduling), ritual timing consultant, planetarium/observatory researcher, ship/broom navigator for magical trade routes.

⟢ summary: y/n, a first year student at hybe university, has been in love with choi yeonjun since high school, and even went to lengths in high school by dating choi soobin in hopes to get closer with yeonjun, but ultimately, both her relationship with soobin and her mission to get close with yeonjun, failed. learning yeonjun started working at a café y/n becomes a frequent customer and unexpectedly develops feelings for a certain someone at the café.

"since all four of you guys will be working this weekend, i signed us all up for a barista training class," soobin said as he seared the meat on the bulpan, "and after the course we can get our certificates of completion."

"question," taehyun started, "is this course paid for already, or will we need to pay for the course?" as soon as taehyun finished, the other three immediately turned to soobin, greatly concerned.

"i already paid for the classes, all you guys need to do is show up."

taehyun, raising his hand, asked, "another question, is there going to be a test at the end of the course?"

"most likely yes—" soobin started before he got cut off.

kai, baffled, choked on the piece of meat he was chewing. "what do i do?! i'm not a good test taker hyung.."

pouting, "i don't do well under pressure," yeonjun said.

soobin, exhausted, "i was about to say before you guys cut me off, the test might not be like a paper exam, but rather maybe something testing your hands-on barista skills."

a collective "oh" rang out throughout the table.

"you guys are really not cut out for academics," taehyun said lowly.

yeonjun, protesting, "to be fair, two out of five is a music major," pointing at beomgyu and kai, "one of us is a dance major," pointing at himself, "and the other one is a failing business student!" pointing at soobin.

"you can't say i'm failing when the school year hasn't even started yet!!" soobin said while aggressively greasing the grill.

the forgotten member at the table, beomgyu, wiping his mouth, asked, "now that your café is opening, are you finally going to respond to the dm from your ex or whoever sent it?"

"beomgyu, mind you i'm already pissed. why are we now mentioning the devil. but i guess i HAVE to respond." soobin said, even more annoyed at the mention of y/n. while launching his instagram app.

soobin stared at the dm sent from his ex two weeks ago before begrudgingly sending her the address of the shop without saying anything else.

as the five finished eating, soobin kindly offered to drive the two youngest back to their dorm, and his roommates back to their apartment.

"you have received a message on instagram, read it?" soobin's siri carplay announced. "sure," soobin replied.

"okay fuck you too i guess." the ai-assistant quoted.

yeonjun and beomgyu let out a snort while the two youngests' jaws dropped

soobin, driving and baffled, "WHO THE FUCK DOES SHE THINK SHE IS?? IS SHE OUT OF HER MIND??"

If you dont mind me asking, how did you find out you were reassigned? I do wonder if I was reassigned as an intersex transmasc and there isn't much info on the topic

Good question!

I was reassigned male in highschool. I did not realize I was actually reassigned until like 2 years afterward. I thought it was all happening because I was transmasculine, and somehow the rules were bending for me.

I learned from other intersex people what it was like to be reassigned. Often, intersex people who were reassigned a sex after birth receive IGM, but luckily, I did not. What they did to physically reassign me was take me off of estrogen and progesterone (which I had previously been forced to take) and put me on testosterone instead. I'm guessing no IGM was done to me because my vagina is pretty easy to ignore, and I guess my penis is "typical enough," and also cause my family wouldn't allow IGM, but idk. They also changed my marker from "F" to "M."

I went from being socially imposed as female to being socially imposed as male. Of course, I had to suffer a lot of transandrophobia from the people around me, and was not accepted as male when I was more early-T, but I am still considered a "male with a DSD*" by doctors and stuff. I still suffer transandrophobia to this day, especially when people know I have breasts.

Putting it all together makes it pretty obvious that I was reassigned male after birth, but again, I had no language to describe what was going on. I didn't know that any of this made me intersex, until later on when I started questioning why my parts were different, and why I couldn't relate to a lot of what perisex transmascs have lived through.

The best way to figure out if you were RMAB is to look at your birth certificate, and then look at what your sex marker says now. If at birth it says "F," and now it says "M," that pretty clearly says you were RMAB. (Unless of course you had it changed yourself.)

*DSD, or "disorder of sexual development," is a derogatory term for intersexuality, and should not be used on intersex people unless they explicitly ask for it.

It's a great feeling to be studying again. My aim is to get into a habit before starting my masters, and this course seemed especially useful as prep

Like many other fields, magic comes from a combianation of natural talent, determination, study and practice. Here are some ways that your character can learn, either to develop throughout the story or as a part of their backstory.

School of Magic

It may ba a school of magic for children, a college of magic, a mage academy, or even a university offering postgraduate degrees in comparative magic and magical anthropology.

Students sign up for full-time study, often on tuition-bed-and-board basis.

Depending on the type of school and level of education, students will be taught subjects that address various aspects of their magic system, sometimes even non-magical subjects.

Apprenticeship

This is where a senior magician takes one or several trainees to lern under them. The terms of the contract would vary, but the basics of it would be that the student is indentured for certain years of service in return for an education.

There may or may not be payment involved, and the appentices may live with the master.

Self-Study

A magician can plausibly teach themselves through research, reading, trial and error.

This is reclusive, organized, studious characters who have self-discipline and intense curiosity.

Part-Time Study

It is also practical to study magic as a hobby, and to devote only a few hours every week to training.

Many organizations offer part-time courses: community colleges, pagan religious groups, New Age societies. There may or may not be an examination/certification requirement.

Informal Learning

Non-professional magicians can pick up some skills that are passed down from mother to daughter, or a few lines of magic that goes viral among teenagers.

Candidate Selection

A magical academy's entrance exam or a master choosing an apprentice may look at the following: ability to concentrate, memory, creativity and imagination, motivation moral integrity, ability to control thoughts, patience, health, sensory awareness, natural affinity for magic, existing skills in related fields, faith and piety, etc.

Initiation

When the student has passed the probationary period, he is initiated into the craft. This ritual often takes place during a solstice or equinox, or an annual event like a festival.

Some systems of magic may have several levels of initiations or degrees.

Some systems may have lethal consequences for candidates who fail to pass the test.
