Recording splashes with a hydrophone (and microphone) as well as tree movements with a contact microphone.

The hydrophone/microphone combination works really well, you can add in the hydrophone signal for more “weight”, or could use it in shots where the camera is underwater, for a more “authentic” feel.

The contact mic is great for recording sounds without background noise or wind interference. This was recorded in a park with plenty of activity, but only the branch movement was picked up using this.

Pro tools being put through the wringer recently while location recording for the Peninsula Youth Orchestra Performance in Belmont, California. I was running between 13-16 tracks of audio for around 16 hours (over the course of 2 days). I use a stereo backup recorder for safety, but Pro Tools had 0, ziltch, nada hiccups 🙏🏼 Grateful for tools that do their job well!
