I don't believe Ash is bitter about kids who have good parents, I believe Ash views the world realistically and knows that the perfect parent doesn't exist

Today I was struck with the thought that ash would be terrifyingly overprotective of michael he’d be so annoying i lov him

he absolutely would be!! he literally criticized max and jessica’s parenting TO THEIR FACES when michael wasn’t even in the room. ash wants nothing but the best for children and he would protect and defend that boy with his life

I have a thought, imagine Ash's reaction if Max or Jessica showed him Michael's homework and in his mind it's "he needs help with something?" So he begins to read and it's a composition with the title "My favorite person" and still reading he reads things like "i have the best big brother ever" "my brother Ash its the most cool, smart and kind person i know..." and others good things Michael see in Ash.
